2025-09-18 14:16:50 +0000 UTC1st off I have to say I love that you said that’s my captain in the description because so many of us have said that more than once on our journeys watching/reading One Piece. I love how the scene of Koza falling after being shot was given time to breath by having the slow mo & emotional music so the audience had time to sit with their feelings about how upsetting that is when they were so close to putting a stop to all this madness. I think it’s so sad that even so badly injured Koza was still desperately begging everyone to stand down & stop fighting and I like the writing of Koza now experiencing the same thing as Valerie with his voice not being heard. I love & hate how brilliant Crocodile’s counter to what Koza & Vivi were trying to do by just creating as much chaos as possible with a sandstorm out of no where knowing his agents would also do their thing as well. It’s great how you can just feel the anger & confusion as none of the soldiers know what the hell is going on. I don’t know who made the decision to have part of the moment of Vivi crying out for everyone to stop be mostly focused on her mouth moving but with no sound but they are a genius for that direction because that alongside her voice acting in yet another confrontation/conversation with Crocodile continues to sell her desperation & despair. I love how you once again talked about Crocodile’s plans as brilliant but horrifying because that also perfectly describes the man as a character as well. I love Vivi’s determination/resilience after she failed to save her country & has to see her people being hurt once again but is still unwilling to give up. I love Ccrocodile’s speech idealism & how she can’t save the country because of her lack of strength because it’s very fitting for a villain who is seemingly obsessed with power to have a philosophy like he does. The whole if you don’t have the strength to back your ideals they mean nothing may be a relatively common trope/theme to explore with a villain but that doesn’t mean it’s not good sometimes things are common because they are great & the need don’t need to be criticized as unoriginal like I sometimes see happen. I think the stuff in the 1st episode you watched is 1 of my favorite moments & voice acting for Crocodile it’s so threatening/menacing & cruel knowing he is about to kill Vivi & wants to make sure she is in complete despair when she dies which is so messed up when there is nothing she can do about it. I personally think Crocodile is particularly cruel to her because her ideals go against his outlook on the world & what he believes in which extends to the country and why it amused him to manipulate the country. Honestly the most disturbing aspect of Crocodile aside from draining the life out of people is how he revels in the suffering of others. It’s hard & painful to watch Vivi be so distraught crying & struggling as Crocodile drops her in a really smart way with his Devil Fruit thinking she has failed everyone. And this is when Crocodile actually make a mistake because he wants her to suffer instead of just killing her immediately it gives Luffy & Pell the chance to save Vivi although I like how the show takes it’s time to give us the resolution so we can really think about what Vivi is going through and that it was a close call to keep the intensity & stakes high. I love the triumphant swell of music as Luffy saves her. I appreciate that Vivi was able to let out her emotions in a safe place & I think it’s so sweet & heartwarming that Luffy cradles her as he comforts & reassures her that there are still people who hear her voice especially her crew showing his emotional side. The staredown between Crocodile & Luffy is hype you can just feel the animosity. I like how Luffy is constantly pumping himself with his movement & his version of stretching right up until he launches himself at Crocodile. I love that as the Crew is grouping up we have classic Straw Hat antics/shenanigans that are amazing I think the funniest is the ridiculous moment with Zoro & Nami and I like how it shows the confidence they have In Luffy and in saving the country. I love the group shot of all of these people who care about & want to help Vivi they all have great poses & it’s awesome how Luffy basically says I got this. I love how confident Crocodile is right up until he gets a Luffy punch to the face it’s always satisfying to see a villain like Crocodile completely shocked as Luffy is beating the shit out of him. The last part of the episode where Luffy says the fight starts now and that he won’t lose again is bad ass I love the stance he takes. I’m not surprised it filled you with so much energy that you wanted to run around your house it’s so God damn good this character makes all of us want to fight alongside him. Also Luffy basically saying get up bitch is amazing LMAO. I think it’s cool how you had the right idea when you were 1st trying to guess Crocodile’s weakness & I liked how Luffy insults him by saying you’re afraid of water rather than just say it’s your weakness. I like how Crocodile is genuinely freaked out at 1st but quickly gains his composure having more up his sleeve which he would to have with the title of warlord. It’s kind of amazing to see the normally serious & coolheaded Crocodile is so frustrated & angry at Luffy being silly/ridiculous taking it as Luffy not being serious about this when Luffy is serious it’s just that his fighting style looks silly because and I don’t want to shock you he’s made of rubber LOL. I love how in contrast water Luffy makes Robin burst out with a joyful & genuine laugh when we have only heard chuckles from her before this I think. I like how observant you are taking special notice of Robin & Luffy’s silent look. It must he frustrating for the King not being able to do anything right now as well. I love the lore we learn about Robin in 122 after how she’s been secretive it’s crazy & interesting stuff. I love how emotive Robin is being in control/calm until the Marines get in her way where she is a little annoyed but still calm until they start talking about her past where she gets very angry just an interesting detail. I love how we get multiple characters really going all out with Crocodile showing just how powerful he can be Luffy coming up with new attacks on the fly & Robin showing her strength. It’s horrifying but fitting that someone who has already brought a lot of suffering & death to Alabasda can bring death to just about anything. I kind of love how scary he gets as well as how crazy Luffy losing again it is because it’s unexpected. Also I like how the drying out is animated. It’s great to see the other Straw Hats immediately forming a plan to signed and stop the bomb. I love how ready half the people around Vivi were to protect her when Baroque Works showed up. I love how into Zoro & Sanji being badass & competitive you are. I like how we get another moment of Vivi’s resilience with her falling down but getting back up. One thing I forgot to say is that I like how Crocodile acknowledges how impressive it was that Luffy was able to figure out his weakness when he was on the brink of death it’s just an example of Luffy’s battle intelligence. Stuff is definitely intense this part of the arc is hard not to binge I love One Piece. I can’t wait for your next reaction this show is so good. 2025-09-15 19:58:55 +0000 UTCI had these volumes (arabasta arc) when I was growing up as a kid and re-read them OBSESSIVELY. To this day, Zoro vs. Mr. 1 and Luffy vs. Crocodile are some of my favorite fights in the series, because it really is the first major step up we get for our boys.

Obviously in shonen battles we are used to the hero and Main character needing a rematch to finally win and settle things... but Croc won that one again. And at the end of the day, should Luffy win, it still won't be because he flat out out-powered him, but a combination of Luck and being charismatic enough to attract helpers and allies of all kind

It's obviously more of a gag since if that were truly the case he'd be bleeding out. The Zoro-Nami dynamic is one of my favorites within the Straw Hats in this entire show. Nami says/demands something irrational, Zoro points out that it's irrational but ends up doing it anyway. I think they're the most like real siblings next to Luffy-Usopp.

2025-09-15 16:16:46 +0000 UTCI get what you mean, by wishing for scenes and moment truly highlighting it... but for now, there already are solid hints that Zoro and Sanji care for each other. Back in Baratie when Mihawk defeated Zoro, Sanji was really upset that Zoro could not give up on his dreams to save his own life. And it clearly had an impact on him, as he was denying himself and his own dreams. Then later, on Little Garden, the show made a real point of mirroring and establishing a parallel between the friendly rivalry of the giants, and Zoro and Sanji. Finally, when escaping while Luffy fought Crocodile, Sanji was the one noticing that Zoro was anxious and worried.. of course he teased him for it, but that's just their way
