The real reason why Miss Father's day is a frog is

Icenight

I love Zoro lol! the fact he was outside the city in the jungle is hilarious

Christopher Velasquez

Luffy totally didn't pre-emptively shoot that water out, it's MC luck and plot armor at it's finest lol

Christopher Velasquez

I was very happy & excited when I saw that it was a double drop. I love how you took time before you started reaction to talk about what you love about some of the characters. I love this set of episodes. I like how 123 starts off with Robin & Tashigi stuff I enjoy how Oda takes time to really focus on characters outside of the Straw Hats. Something I love about about Robin is how when ever she speaks you are completely captivated by her words I think it’s a combination of things she talks about being interesting & making you think and her VA. We have seen moments of Robin being brutal but never as viscerally as with Tashigi at least in my opinion breaking her leg & strangling her. Although yeah Crocodile that Tashigi was defenseless/at her mercy & Robin didn’t really need to rush I think the show makes it clear that she let her live which is in line with her date actions so far and it’s interesting to see a antagonist with a sense of mercy compared to Crocodile especially when Robin is clearly willing to do bad things maybe she has fines she doesn’t like to cross the 1 thing we do know is that when she saw Luffy she was interested in him because he has the D in his name. I like how the start of the episode we have Tashigi with cloudy eyes because of Robin attacking her which is a nice bit of foreshadowing for her struggle with her morals & sense of Justice. I really respect how Tashigi continues to tried to stop Robin even injured & outmatched it shows how much she wants to help people. Robin certainly is talking about some ominous stuff & for some reason doesn’t like what Cobra says. I like that we learn that Robin can read Poneglyphs when it’s implied a lot of people can’t because it adds to the intrigue of her character. Also something I always noted when I 1st watched is that Robin reacts with happiness & excitement at seeing the Poneglyph with her own eyes. I love how the franticness & panic of the search for the bomb is depicted with the voice acting & how we quickly go from character to character it’s indeed stressful but I like how it just gets more and more stressful which is a good way to show how bad the situation is. I love how Tashigi’s moral dilemma is shown in the yet episode with her struggle/deliberation about asking Luffy a Pirate for help when she almost certainly joined the Marines to stop and protect people from Pirates because she is not strong enough to stop Crocodile & wants to help the civilians. It might seem like there was no other choice but Tashigi has a strong sense of justice I think she we might have hesitated more if right up not for Smoker’s small amount of advice to basically trust her gut & decide what to do based on the situation & what her Justice tells her to do. I love how Smoker is willing to take responsibility for any decisions that Tashigi makes because it shows that he has a lot of belief/trust in his subordinate as well as the influence the Straw Hats have had on his perspective. To me I always saw the to hell with Navy headquarters as saying that she is willing to go against the rules if it means saving people but I like how we also understand why she struggles & is upset about it. I appreciate that we see Luffy’s injuries catching up with him because it makes things not feel more realistic because this is not a realistic show but feel more real for Luffy when it emphasizes once again how strong people in the Grand Line are. I love the scene of Robin & the confrontation with Crocodile it does a great job of showing why they are both great characters. I think the most important thing to realize is that whether as Robin is lying or telling the truth about the Poneglyph Crocodile believes that she’s lying which explains his anger & why he was so ready to kill her & TBF even if he doesn’t know it she has been doing things that actively messed with his plans so he’s not wrong like you said. Because we have seen that Robin is Smart/clever & is skilled with her Devil Fruits I love how she had a plan in case Crocodile tried to kill/betray her and it was a great plan that actually caught him off guard & probably would have worked if Crocodile wasn’t as experienced but just as fast as her. It’s absolutely brutal to see Crocodile Impale Robin with his hook & put it back out because of how much it must have hurt. I like how Oda took this moment to explore Crocodile having trust issues & him not trusting anyone made it easy to kill even the one who was part of Baroque Works the longest. I respect Cobra a lot for being willing to sacrifice himself to take out Crocodile to save his country it’s very noble & continues the interesting parallel with him representing what a good King should be compared to what Wapol was like it’s just unfortunate that Crocodile is a lot more powerful with his DF than Cobra realized. I love the voice acting for Crocodile once again reveling in the seeming futility of everyone trying to stop him because every time the protagonists think they have got 1 over on him he has yet another plan as a counter. I appreciate how Crocodile over the course of this arc has slowly been showing more & more emotion as he faces setbacks but it comes to a head here as he is so close to his goal of being King and I like how for a person like Crocodile the amount of power he would gain gives him the confidence that he can find Pluton even without Robin. It’s been a longtime since I watched this arc so I forgot about the this secret staircase looks like a gator joke from Luffy he is hilarious. I love what you said about how interesting it is to see older characters more often in the story during this arc when we started off with a young character like Luffy it expands the world in a interesting way. I love the part of Crocodile vs. Luffy round 3 shown off in 124 it’s awesome. I think it’s fitting that Crocodile isn’t scared of Luffy when he probably should be at this point but is just infuriated & confused that he once again is still alive. I love that Crocodile while I still don’t think he respects Luffy he acknowledges him as someone strong or at least someone insanely resilient by using poison something that is sure to kill him this time. As other people talked about I love that Luffy doesn’t see this as unfair because something he has accepted as a danger of the journey to become pirate king is people playing dirty & having advantages that he doesn’t which is a sign of his immense resolve. The one thing I have to say about the fight choreography is great & I love how it reflects how both Luffy & Crocodile are fully focused on surviving and winning the punches/kicks & slices have great sound design. I love how with all of the things that Crocodile listed off as what he took away from the country Luffy gets right to the heart of it all by saying that he needs to give back the country because it’s not just one thing that Crocodile took from the country that Vivi & all of the people love. Luffy does care about the other people who Crocodile has hurt/made suffer but I love that his biggest focus is on Vivi & how sad & upset she has been it’s really wholesome that Luffy wants to see her smile in the country she loves more. Also the way Crocodile lists off everything Luffy has survived in his battles against him so far it makes you realize even more how resilient Luffy is it puts it in perspective it’s wild. Something else I really like are Crocodile & Luffy’s facial expressions especially how their eyes are drawn/animated. Also I think it’s cool that on his way to find Crocodile Luffy realized he needed a new way to physically hit him & thought of or instinctually understood to use blood. Awesome reaction & thoughts. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

Supermonaman

I’ve felt the same about One Piece being the spiritual successor of OG Dragon Ball. I’ve also thought that Naruto fit better as the spiritual successor to DBZ.

E

I don’t think he worked under Toriyama, but he did work as an assistant for the author of Rurouni Kenshin. Toriyama was a big influence on One Piece, especially Dragon Ball.

E

Im so glad im seein you at this point omgggg

Wesley Gills

YOU MENTIONED YOUR IMITATION LAUGH AND I LOVED IT 17:00 I love the ballet reference again I love that Oda appreciates ballet but I can’t wait to hear how it’s wrong as it comes up but also imma drop this 0:18:15 to 0:18:47 and, you say morals, but, I think you meant it’s her justice that she’s weighing since she has a pirate she’s against doing good against a warlord she just exposed and was left to die from it’s such a crazy fuckin concept and crocodile knew it and that’s why Miss all Sunday 19:56 Tashigi doesn’t hate that she helped a pirate Tashigi hates that her view of justice has the same solution as a pirates goal You nailed the spiral at 20:42 but ^ that’s the problem to Tashigi - she has to respond here and this is where she’s been in opposition to someone with a blade she wants but knows she can’t take (Zoro, after they fought with practice swords vs crocodile and Nico Robin where they both spared her) 26 ish minutes you defend Miss all Sunday and that’s funny So much I can’t say about your between episode breakdown, but I fell asleep writing my comment in notes and adhd has removed my comment from my brain Episode 2 I fell asleep so no reaction bc I had to rewatch abd then go to work so sorry but it was as as axing as I’d expected since you peep notes and even fucking keep them (love that) one piece is the series for it since it’s so long

Kcosta

If you didn't already know, both are based off the same character named Sun Wukong (aka the Monkey King) from some old Chinese novel called Journey to the West, hence the similarities. Also where Luffys last name comes from, and Goku's tail / the Saiyan transformations.

Ziggy Stardust

Goku? Luffy? Guffy?

VoiceOfVoorhees

I'm waiting for a day when i'll watch some random anime and see Zoro lost in the background

VoiceOfVoorhees

Weird why the anime decided to have the Marines know about Zoro's sense of direction, or lack thereof, because they don't mention it in the manga and just straight up give him directions. While we're on manga discrepancies, though King Cobra questions, on multiple occasions, "who is Luffy/this guy?" the anime adds a few more for good measure so it makes Cobra sound kinda dull. A minor Luffy moment that I enjoy is that he doesn't claim that Crocodile is being cheap or unfair when he switches his hook to the poisoned one. He just accepts it and recognizes that the "code" between pirates really has no ethics. Lastly, this may not be the right time to bring this up yet, but Crocodile said that he's never trusted anyone from the beginning, including Ms. All Sunday, whom he was working with for presumably the longest time. So the question is who/what DOES he trust? Food for thought.

Tabo51

LOL OH NO Zoro

Jessica McCann

about Zoro showing up there. i think its because how the marines said to him that go north. i think in zoro's mind north is equal up, like on compass. that is why he decided to go somewhere high first.

reddnik

I loved how in depth you were in this intro getting caught up, it literally felt like you were checking your (well known) elaborate notes and looking for what you should be paying attention for and I love it every fuckin time Time to get to the reaction tho

Kcosta

LETS GOOOOO! You dropped 2 one piece reactions right before my double at work and now I can watch one before I need sleep! But these are some goooood episodes I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

Kcosta

Yeah DB and OP are my 2 favorites and I agree that Luffy is similar to Goku and vice versa both super care free and love to eat but get super serious when shit hits the fan but both unique in their own way love em both.

Whoopsie

HAHAHH WHAT - I love that so much 😭☠️

Jessica McCann

I'm not sure what happens more in this saga... Koza being shot or Vivi tripping over nothing

Ziggy Stardust

It's always the little wind up before zoro decks ussopp doing the crocodile impersonation😂😂😂

David Fualau

Ne ne, Ms Fathasu dayyy 🤣🤣🤣

Irvin Mugo

How does Zoro gets so lost he finds a jungle in a desert kingdom 😂

Irvin Mugo

Little off the topic, but regarding Zoro's sense of direction... in one of the most recent One Piece games, if you play Zoro as a character you don't have minimap just for the heck of it as a tribute to Oda's joke with him.

Duris

So the thing about Mr. Father's Day is.... it's, um... yeah, I don't get it either 🤣

Alex P

Tbf, your criticism to Oda's deaths it's totally fair. I happens more in the begging of the anime, he starts to improve in this in the future. One good rule of thumb is that people in this world are way more resilliance than average people from other animes, is there a reason? Mostly just beacuse Oda doesn't like to kill their characters, this doesn't mean he will never do it

DiegoTO11

I didn't even noticed the double dropped I was on the other like what you mean posion luffy was just dried up last time hahaha god bless some extra One Piece! Thanks for the double

DiegoTO11

Luffy going "that hole looks gator-ish" gets me every time. Such a Luffy thing to say and act on.

Trizzen

Just accept the weirdness of the character design, some are much more ridiculous than Mr 7 and Miss Father’s Day

SJ

51:55 - They are in the middle of combat... that guy was watching everyone's back while they are turned around.

Adrian Eccelston

i don't if wrote this in other video, but in one piece your life is your dream, destroying a person dream IS the death in this world.

Gabriel Ramos

This is where Zoro's true legend begins!

Burn7G

The I on the end doesn't bother me. It's the M that sticks in my craw.

IcepickEvans

As far as I know, Oda worked as an assistant for Toriyama, so it probably had a major influence for Oda's style. Also, in episode 3 or 4 - Zoro said that he went to sea to find a "certain" man and just get lost, so he started bounty hunting just so he could eat and stuff. So, at this point it's a long running joke that he is bad with directions.

Rayleigh47

8:29 Nah, you are giving too much credit to Luffy, that was straight up luck 😅. He was trying to attack him and he got really lucky that the same attack save him at the end lol.

Mr Red

That was in the filler episode.

Sky M

don’t forget, when Zoro, Luffy, and Chopper fell into those underground ruins, they had found another poneglyph that nobody knew about

Jessie

37:20 Besides, when Robin first came aboard, she said that she had intentionally allowed Vivi to follow her. That's how Vivi found out Crocodile was Mr. 0.

Sky M

One Piece and Dragon Ball are also animated by Toei, so you may notice alot of similarities as you watch

Gary Oaks

I think even the org Baroque Works wanted to forget about the new Mr 7 and her lol. Even Crocodile gave them a suicide mission...

Zarathos Daimaoh

You probably see a resemblance to Goku in Luffy because Oda was heavily inspired by Toriyama and his work. You could even argue that Goku and Luffy have a similar naming convention, based on Sun Wukong, a monkey called Son Goku in Japanese.

mogeki

I completely forgot about Miss Fathers Day

KevinsLunchbox

So just for info's sake , the Fishman Warlord is supposed to be called Jinbe, but because it took a long while for the official romanization of the name to drop, people have been calling him Jimbei or Jinbei in fansubs and official translations.

Zarathos Daimaoh

Why does this banger have to drop on the evening before my colloquium😭

Patrick Jung

Goku? Luffy? No the VA is Krillin/Kuririn

Daniel König

Gator guy be like: A- a- a- a- a- a-, worthless, a- a- a- a-

Ace The FireDragon

It's Two Piece time!! Let's go. And yes One Piece is clearly the top spiritual successor of the OG Dragon Ball. And to help further that sentiment, Luffy's voice actress is the same than Krillin's

Zarathos Daimaoh

yes its awesome!

Mr Dude

Double of One Piece? You just made my day FlexieJay, thank you so much.

John Paul

Perfect timing

Mo za

Its time!!!

Naishiuan

The way you have been saying Pluton this entire time is the correct pronounciation

Richafa
