Remember back during season 3 when Deku admits to himself that while he idolizes All-Might, the symbol of victory in his head is always Kacchan, the person much closer to him than All-Might? The world needs someone to win-to-save, and I don't think there's anybody Deku trusts more in the world to do that than Bakugo. He uses Gearshift again because his personal incarnation of victory is here.

Only that AFO stopped him from using it when he was going to sacrifice himself to explode. That's why when he gives it to Bakugo he said "it's no longer functional but at least it'll serve as a splint" and then proceeds to call him by his hero name Great explosion murder god Bakugo as both a way to acknowledge him but also because that's he name of that item. And Bakugo really needed the splint beacuse remember how shigaraki broke his arm in season 7, ahhhh....!!! Sorry for the long text, i just had to put it out. Love the reaction!

It’s going to take a few more days and several rewatches before I can articulate what this episode did to me! But OH MY LORD, this episode was visually one of the most beautiful episodes I have ever seen! AND MY BOY! He is so back and I am crying tears of joy the whole time! 🧡 I echo a lot of what you were saying during this reaction about this show and these characters. It’s crazy so many people miss out on MHA because of preconceived judgements of the content of the story or the fandom. This is one of my favorite stories ever and this was probably my favorite episode of all time, finally dethroning 3x23 for me 🥹

2025-10-19 03:58:42 +0000 UTCSomething that I love and I like to think is that the moment Deku receive the OFA he starts to be less alike All Might because the fear of being discovered so we can see that at the begining of the show he tries to smile while fighting but at the end he is a very differente hero. But Bakugo is the opposite, he smile every time at every fight, his way of thinking is more similar to All Might's even his name DynaMIGHT shows his fanboy side. I like to think that at the end, Bakugo is more similar to All Might than Deku while Deku seems similar to Endevor, of course talking in the hero way, as persons Deku is so All Might and Bakugo is so Endevor.

2025-10-19 02:52:43 +0000 UTCI had been watching this more than 5 times (excl reaction channels) cause of how fast, beautiful and amazing this episode was and I've been in the same state as you are, even though I've already read the manga. The anime just makes everything 10 times better, especially this season omg. Bakugo has comes such a far way and there will always be people who can't accept his growth, but his redemption arc is one of the best arcs and I love it sm, cause it shows how much of a better and stronger person he had become while still being his goofy and explosive self. This has been such a roller coaster and it was worth waiting for, especially with the movie type of animation

The thing that broke Bakugou the most was after the Kamino Ward incident where he realized that Deku was the one All Might was entrusting the future too, while he had to live with the realization that he was the epicenter of the event that caused the dream of All Might to end prematurely. This is a redemption and triumph moment. It's come full circle.

2025-10-18 21:15:40 +0000 UTCSave people to win, when possible—but not everyone wants to be saved, and ultimately u cant force that (just talk, and hold out ur hand to them & hope they take it. My therapist said that ultimately, u have to decide to save yourself-- in some cases by accepting help, like MHA shows). So in the latter case, win to save instead. But tbh Idk! Its a good question, but a hard choice cause I think it's a lil more nuanced than one vs the other—which is why they pair best together. Just like Deku and Kacchan, they balance each other out in the end, and elevate each other. Anyways!! Started crying and laughing again rewatching this with ur reaction, and then when I calmed down u went and kept making me cry some more with ur discussions/comments on these characters during ur 2nd watch. Like Flexie pls I love it but I only have so much water in my body 😭 I think u encapsulated perfectly why the payoff is so amazing for this show, btw. As someone who's also obsessed with characters and character writing, this show really goes beyond with so many and then just. Brings all of those written threads together to make a beautiful tapestry of character moments/writing/themes in the end (ur about to see one of my fav threads in the next ep! Wont spoil, but u saw the frame of kid AFO. I though what horikoshi did with his story is really fascinating--and as someone who loves getting into the psychology/mind of a character, theres just. Hm. I shall say no more). With s8, I think I can officially say this is my fav show? It used to be tied with Arcane (but arcane's writing lowkey kinda dropped the ball in some aspects & exploring concepts in s2 for me personally—the payoff wasn't nearly as satisfying as this is. Don't get me wrong i still enjoyed s2 (and DAMN THE ANIMATION WENT HARD)!! I'm just picky cause the writing for s1 was so incredible. I still gotta watch ur reaction to arcane damn it 😭 im so curious as to what u spoke about in ur discussions and analysis throughout the show) ... aight I got really side tracked but. Was gonna say something about mha being a masterclass in payoff & full circle moments but rip my brain isnt cooperating anymore. Lovely to see ur reaction & hear ur thoughts, and I hope u have a great week as well! Take care! The exact words he used in Japanese is the same as what he said when Class 1-A all together tried to bring Deku back to UA. He said "Ideals alone can't win. We'll take care of the things you can't take care of" P.S. When he said "Im Kacchan Bakugo", in Japanese he said "Bakugo no Kacchan da" meaning Kacchan of the Bakugos, like he is saying Im Kacchan of the Bakugo family :p So It fits that he didn't say his actual name and said his nickname instead. Although its the first time I think he's referred to himself as Kacchan :p

That line delivery of “it hurts” with the laugh from the VA is amazing, potentially my favorite line delivery like ever, it’s such a Bakugo moment it doesn’t even make me think a person is voicing him, like THAT IS BAKUGO KATSUKI SPEAKING RN. Every sound made in MHA is just beyond words, the Music and scores, the VA’s the sound effects it all blends into just a masterpiece of a visual

And where he would have done that before - now he’s matured and he’s stating WHO HE IS in this fight against AFO. (After just coming back from the dead & every part of him hurts) … The fact that it’s missing and he doesn’t say it - to me, feels like that’s the whole point. I’m not saying I don’t like hearing him yell that 😉 but, at a certain point in the story he stopped yelling “die!!!!” At everyone lol.
