This is so funny to me though because my initial reaction was panic when I saw it was a dagger, because there is an old superstition about how you're never supposed to give knives or scissors as gifts, as the gesture is viewed as the gifter wanting to cut ties/sever the relationship. In order to counteract this, the recipient must 'pay' for the knife with a coin, so that its no longer a gift. Give him a coin, Mobius, and take the knife.
