Happy February & Update!

Hellooooo friends! We made it through the first month wooooo!!

I normally post stuff a few times a week and I didn't this past week so I wanted to give some updates!

I have a really awesome gardening set I am almost done with! I have added some cool features like being able to buy an actual seed, have it spawn in the pot, and have your sim automatically plant it. I made some sprinklers for indoor and outdoor use. I made some modular dirt mounds for a farming-type aesthetic with the benefits of the new features I added for planters. Hopefully I can finish that up in the next few days!

I have also been working on my own "super" OMSP.  I do have the standard OMSP shelf that lets you put tons of things on it, but this preview shows a version lets you use debug books for decoration with the big feature being that checkered wall! It basically gives you the ability for precise vertical placement without being against a wall!! I also figured out how to get rid of that stupid bug where stuff gets deleted when you change wallpapers. This has been a WIP for over a month now and I am still working out some bugs but it is going to be sooo cool when it is done!

Final note, I have unfortunately overworked my right hand that uses the computer mouse and developed carpal tunnel.  Certainly will not stop me from creating but I have been trying to rest it a bit more while it's healing and I am finding ways to better protect it. So I may be slow the next week or two with new releases but promise you I am still here!!

Love you all and hope you are doing well!

Sorry to hear about your hand! That really sucks. I have RSI in my wrist and wearing a brace definitely helps.

Marisa (gfvsims)

Oh I also have CT in both hands - get braces! They offer so much relief or for instant relief just put your hand above your head and let the blood drain from it. Also try some stretches you can find them online I'm sure I had to go to physical therapy for it but ended up getting the surgery

ghoulsrule

I hope you feel better soon, and I am so excited for that shelf! It is awesome!

simspointe

Oh I feel you I use a track ball now due to my over worked wrist it has helped!

L&A

thank you for the link, i will try them!! im hoping im not to the point of surgery.. i hope! and hopefully i will get insurance back soon. its just so expensive not being with an employer!!

RAVASHEEN

its so annoying! i cant get rid of it on all cc, i have to code it into each piece of cc... but i can at least fix it on my stuff!! and i purchased a bunch of stuff for my wrist, so im hoping it helps!

RAVASHEEN

yes i just bought a few things i hope to help! just so weird it didnt pop up till now, my job has always been on a computer but making cc is ALOT of mouse clicking and mouse movement. and its only my right hand so im lucky its not both.

RAVASHEEN

i was reading about the night wrist brace. that one confused me.. is it just to keep your hand in a good position as you sleep? i thought using the mouse was the issue, but this is all new to me. so sorry about your surgery!! ugh its such a bummer, i never realized how bad it was till i had it. and i didnt even know what it was for a few weeks. i just explained what was going on and a few people said it sounded like CT and sent me links. im currently uninsured so this is totally self disgnosis, but i mean like word for word my symptoms line up with CTS. the numbness is what is killing me

RAVASHEEN

what i can do is make a tuning file that you can download... you will have to apply that tuning to the part you want to move. it is really easy, just copying and pasting into a line in sims 4 studio. but then you could make it work with whatver item!

RAVASHEEN

the itching omg!! i feel like i itch because i cant feel anything. of course its okay to post a link!! i bought them :)

RAVASHEEN

i hope hes foinf better!

RAVASHEEN

As someone who has had CT surgery in one hand and will need it in the other eventually: invest in an ergonomic mouse and use a splinted wrist brace at night while you sleep or when you're resting! Use cold packs after you've done a heavy computer session as they will help alleviate swelling. And take regular breaks! Every half an hour for 10 minutes. :)

Please take care of your hands! They are a huge deal for us computer folks! I have it, and it sucks. Echoing what everyone else says- get some ergonomic stuff to help. It's worth the little extra money. I am looking into an ergonomic keyboard next because I do more typing than anything else, but I use a cushioned wireless mouse that I can put on any surface. So much better. BUT YES, SO EXCITED FOR THIS NEW STUFF TO COME OUT! YOU'RE AWESOME! Hugs!

first - i'm sorry about your hand! I hope all works out second - for the OMSP wall - will this also work for if we wanted to for example - place a hand towel hanging from a cabinet or the broom from laundry day on the side of a hutch? if yes, i've been looking for something like this FOREVER

OMG, I'm soooo excited!! I can't wait to see the new garden set because most of my simis have a garden. The new shelf is sure to be great too. I wish you a speedy recovery and please protect your hand. You have given us so much, created such great things, please rest now. Lovely regards from Austria

I am super excited for the gardening set, as one of my sims is crazy about gardening, but the thing I'm waiting for most is getting rid of the stupid bug! It drives me mas that whenever I want to change a wallpaper or put up a new wall tons of stuff get kicked into the inventory. However, as I also know CTS, I will do my best to wait patiently and you make sure to let your wrist heal. Tons of good advice here, from my experience wrist wraps are definitely worth a try and a mouse pads with gel cushion is really a necessity!

I'm really excited about what you've been working on! As for your carpal tunnel, I've had the release surgery done to both my hands. Mine was caused by years of administrative work (50%) and my spinal cord injury in the cervical area (50%). It is a long, long story, lol, but today, I have a Microsoft mouse that works nicely for me as my hand stays relaxed. I also have a nice mousepad with a wrist rest. As this is new, the hand/wrist wrap will help a lot. Medical supply companies often have public shops and can be less expensive. I hope you get your medical insurance back soon. Definitely take breaks and take a look at this link for some exercises: https://www.webmd.com/pain-management/exercises-carpal-tunnel-syndrome 💕

szanne7000

That shelf and the grid to line things up look amazing and excited about the gardening set! I have carpal tunnel as well from doing data entry for years and then creating on IMVU and SL for a long time as well. I feel your pain! Make sure to take breaks when you need and either get one of those wrist supports to go next to your mouse or roll up a wash cloth and position it under your wrist, it helps! The numbness is the worse part for sure. LOL I have a high pain tolerance but numbness or itching are my two things that will turn me into a baby. Try one of these they seriously help... https://www.amazon.com/Vankey-Wrist-Rest-Ergonomic-Computer/dp/B07QXYY32Z/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=wrist+support+for+mouse&qid=1612257043&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&smid=A2V02R404K5EC7&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyV1EzT0hYMTRTRjZNJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNjg0NjY3NTZFSDUyM0FRSlg3JmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA5MDUyNDNBNE43WFY2VE42VFEmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl hope it is alright to post a link.

Husband recently had surgery on his, they were soooo bad! Both hands!

Sarah B.

ill find out the name and get back to you. i only have mccc in my game (which i only use to control some BB cheats) so i dont have much experience with it. but if you are in the discord server you could ask other poeple their experience? either way i am going to update my stuff!

RAVASHEEN

me too.. i actually never had a "flare up" before in my life. even though i have been on a computer for like the past 10 years. but making cc is a lot of mouse movement. do you have experience with CTS? i was hoping taking a week off would help, but there was literally no improvement in that time :( but this is the first time i had it so hoping i caught it early

RAVASHEEN

its hard tho cause i love doing this so much. i took a week off and it was killing me. my pinterest board of ideas exploded in the last week lol!!

RAVASHEEN

thank you very much! its only my right hand and i think its cause i do sooo much clicking with my right hand on the mount making cc. i will look into track ball mice tho - thank you!

RAVASHEEN

i havent but i have one ordered!! i have not heard of that gel i will look into it!! i will for sure try the epsom salts. the pain in only sometimes in certain positions... what is really driving me crazy is the numbness bewteen my pointer finger and thumb on my palm! unfortunately, when i got laid off i lost my health insurance so at the moment i am kinda stuck in that department. so natural remedies are my go to for now! and a more ergonomic setup!

RAVASHEEN

if you have a link for those wrist guards let me know! im looking at them and there are so many options. the fact that you got it from knitting is badass, thats some intense knitting! badass, but also it sucks. i always though carpal tunnel was something to do with knuckle joints from typing... i had no idea it was due to a pinched nerve in the wrist. i only get slight pain in certain positions... what is really killing me is the numbness between my thumb and pointer finger!! its constant.

RAVASHEEN

oof ouch... excited about the new set.. I had to get steroid shots into my wrist to chill out the swelling so my wrists could heal, so I know the pain you are in. I have those carpal tunnel wristy things that are good for prevention but not necessarily great for anything else. I ended up getting ones that were actually made for women instead of universal, so it didn't inhibit me or bother me too much. (I got my carpal tunnel and bursitis issues from intense knitting situations where I don't pay attention to how my hands are positioned)

CoffeeConfessor

Hope you use a wrist pad mouse pad to cushion your wrist? If not, definitely do that. Also consider a ergonomic mouse. It will make sure you use the mouse in a more natural and relaxed hand way. When the pain is bad and nothing seems to be helping, try Epsom salts to soak your hand/wrist in. I also use Voltaren Gel and swear by it as a person with severe chronic pain. It works for my hands too. You can get an extra strength version at your local pharmacy or ask your doctor for a prescription if it works well but could be better. So there ya go, some natural ways to ease pain and some others too! Hope it helps. I'm a huge fan and just love your work. I so appreciate how much time and energy it takes to create content as you do. I also appreciate how easy it is to burn yourself out, so take good care of you! <3

So excited for your gardening set! In case you haven’t considered it before, I understand that drawing tablets are known to reduce some RSI and carpal tunnel symptoms. I can’t imagine navigating The Sims with one, but for the other tasks (particularly graphics and coding, and even basic web/email tasks), I prefer using the pen and tablet. I hear track ball mice also help reduce symptoms as well. I wish you a full and speedy recovery!

You rest that hand! You've given us so much already. Don't overwork it!

Alleycatfish

I love all your stuff. I do not mind at all waiting longer since everything you make is super well done. Hope your CTS flare ups don't last super long.

Oh?! I'll have to check it out. I tried his better build buy and it conflicted super bad with something, so I kinda wrote the modder off. 🤷‍♀️

Sarah B.

yes so do the cubbies! there is a mod by twisted mexi that fixes it for everything, but i plan to go back and update my old sets with the fix :)

RAVASHEEN

Such exciting things coming!! Yeah the fish tank you have makes the decorations inside go away when you put the walls down then up. 😞 but I still love it lol!
