Leaving Na part 1

Her mother, Vailea, ran the business and was heavily micromanaged by her grandfather, Eun, who trained Vai after his wife died. Eun also arranged the marriage between Vai and Malachi. Rypley, Vai's eccentric brother and Twigs uncle, worked above ground as a traveling salesman, and every few months he would visit and exchange goods, so the business operated as a trading company.
Malachi was born to a noble family, but married out--Na is matrilineal. He disliked how little freedom he had in the matter and turned to alchemy as an outlet. He didn't partake in the business and he and Vai were often at conflict.
And when Eun died suddenly, Vai blamed Malachi and fled the underdark in search for Rypley, taking Twig with her.
Around this time last year I started working on a backstory comic for my druid of spores, Twig. After I finished it, I decided to make this precursor comic to help give more context--the earlier comic wasn't originally made to be shared but I decided later on that I would like to share it.
Long story short: part 1 was made after part 2, so don't mind the shift in formatting and style
