General Update

Alright, I'm going to be doing a couple of Patron posts (one for the $5 tier with the very first MMS that came out a couple of months ago and one for the $10 tier with the new MMS reward), but I wanted to put out a public update do to some unfortunate events. I'm not sure how much, if any, they will effect this months release.

First, part of the reason I'm just now putting the MMS out, is that one of my grandmother's just died over this past weekend. Now, I'm not a weepy depressed mess over it or anything, she'd late-stage Alzheimer's for YEARS and her quality of life was frankly terrible. It was expected and I trust she's gone onto a better place. 

At the same time, she was out-of-state for me and the majority of my family (due to the way the states involved handled government subsidizing, we couldn't move her any closer, sadly), which means that getting all the funeral arrangements, her effects and lawyers taken care of, and so on...is frankly a bit of a nightmare.

Thankfully, I wasn't her POA, but I'm still helping out as much as I can, and that is eating into time that I would normally be working on the update. I'm still getting bits down in small amounts, but I'm also going to be out of town for 5 days soon for the funeral and such. This is almost certainly going to reduce the overall size of the update, but I'll do my best to still get a meaningful amount of content done.

Second (yes, there's more), is that I'm looking for a new job. My freelance contracts are pretty much all up, and I don't want to find more. I've come to hate working freelance/contract in the last few years, as the instability is hell on both financial planning and health(since when it rains, it pours, and I end up burning the candle at both ends...then having no work at all at other times). I had originally hoped that Eros Academy might become something that would help stabilize my income a bit (I never deluded myself that it would replace it, but having a semi-stable bit of extra would have been amazing). Since that hasn't happened, I'm biting the bullet and looking for at least a part time job to help things level out a bit. Maybe even a full time position somewhere.

I have no idea what THIS will do to development of Eros Academy, either. Right now, the answer is 'nothing,' but if I take a regular 9-5 (which is the worse case scenario, I hate that sort of work) I might end up canceling development on the game entirely, as I won't feel like burning my minimal free time on something that is becoming less and less fun and more and more of a chore. 

I know this is kinda a downer post, but I felt like I ought to let people know where my head is at. I'm still working on the game and have no immediate plans for that to change. I will also give at least a month or so of warning if I do shut the game development down. Hopefully it doesn't come to that and if I cut time it will just be to move it to slightly slower updates so it feels like less of a chore. That, quite frankly, is the most likely result.
