Mass Effect: The Final Error

Merry Christmas! Happy Mid-Hanukkah! Cheerful Kawansa Eve! Other Appropriate Greetings! 

Having gotten the obligatory holiday greetings done, I come baring the gift of words, despite not being a fancy Asari prostitute! As promised, I'm releasing the first part of Mass Effect: The Final Error, to All Patrons...and since it's effectively an extra this month, I figured Christmas Day was the best time to do so :-). The PDF is attached, as usual. So if you don't want to read the rest of this post, Merry Christmas once again and enjoy! (Hopefully)

For anyone still reading, the following details are just a bit of explanatory authors stuff for the story, both what's already there and what I'm planning for it in the future (if it ever gets more votes). It's mostly spoiler free.

First, for the record, I altered Oriana's age just slightly from cannon Mass Effect. Since I decided to go with throwing her memories back to her own body, instead of into a random Asari, the tweak was needed. In cannon, she's only 17 when the events of Eden Prime take place. As I wanted her involved, not to mention wanting to give her time to actually influence the timeline, I upped that to her being 19 at the start of Mass Effect 1. Not a huge change...but I wanted to put it out there in case anyone did their research and called me on it ;-). 

Second, I apologize if people where hoping for more detailed build up to cannon, rather than the time-skipping method I've chosen to employ. The reason I did it the way I did is, bluntly put, because I didn't want to dabble with sex scene that involved a pre-18 Oriana. While she's mentally much older than her physical body, do to the whole premise of the story, and thus I didn't mind some 'off-screen' mentions, it just wasn't worth the potential quagmire of putting it 'on-screen' in lemony detail. And, given that this is an Adult Games patreon, I kinda assumed you guys would want a story with actual sex in each part, rather than tons of world and relationship building before anyone even kisses. Which doesn't mean you won't get a lot of the, too, but I suspect everyone would have looked at it a little funny if you had to wait 20-30k words before anything happened in that regard.

Next, as regards cannon....don't expect me to stick to it! While I will use cannon as a very loose guide, you'll see that even in this first part (which ends just as the invasion of Eden Prime begins) Oriana made changes that will derail certain cannon events and missions. The people simply aren't in the right places for them to happen any longer. I can also explicitly state that, should the story get that far, these things will not be happening:

1) Shepard will not die, nor will she join Cerberus. I enjoy the occasional fanfiction...and it's a pet peeve of mine when people create fanfiction where I character knows about her death and still fails to prevent it, just because the author doesn't have any talent for writing original content to fill the 2-year gap. I think we all know by now I'm perfectly capable of writing original material....so bugger that! No death over Alchera.

2) No bullshit Mass Effect 3 endings, either.

Now, for one other thing....if this story ever gets voted for again, I'll run a couple of polls as to two in cannon Oriana should get involved with. I've currently got things set up for there to be a female Shepard...but only by mention as she hasn't shown up yet. I could swap the pronouns if people really want her involved with a Male Shepard. Likewise, Liara will be an option, as will Fem Shepard and several other characters, including some possible threesomes. Miranda (obvious reasons) and Tali (immune system issue is annoying) will likely be the only ones completely out of the question. Well, probably not Wrex or Grunt either, since I'm not sure at all how that would even work....
