Okay, so semi-melodrama moment aside. I HORRIBLY underestimated how much time making the escape mini-game was going to take. I'm already a full day behind me most pessimistic estimate, and I'm full expecting it to take another day or so, at least. Now, that's not the end of the world! The mini-game alone actually accounts for roughly 12 scenes worth of unique content. Admittedly, somewhat small scenes, but easily the equal of most job-scenes in the game (though, also admittedly, for reasons of my sanity there are no video clips in these scenes). Each of the two sets of bondage gear you can choose from have oral and sex scenes for both a male and female thief embedded somewhere in their escape options. That would be 8 scenes by itself, but there are also at least 2 scenes (maybe more, everything is kinda blurry at this point) that have major variants based on what parts of each set you have on. In fact, I included the two images for this post that I did, as they are one example of that. The scene completely changes if you have/have not escaped from the Pet Suit piece of the Pet Set. That brings the straight scene counts up to 10, with two forfeit scenes bringing it up to 12. And that's just counting the actual sex scenes, since there's quite a bit more in the way of struggle/lockpicking options that I'm not counting toward that for various reasons.
Aside from the minigame, I'm still pretty confident that I'll get the rest of my 'Priority One' scenes into this build. Anything beyond that may be a bit much to expect, though. As planned, those priority one scenes should add roughly 4-6 additional scenes. Which means that the 'minimum' I'm shooting for in the build is still about 16-18 scenes. So, in other words, right in the same range that each previous build has been. I'd originally thought I could do more than that due to there being no vid clips in the mini-game content. I erroneously thought that not needing to do all the video editing and conversion steps would make the whole thing less time-intensive than it's proved to be. I really badly underestimated just how long it would take to actually organize everything. It took literally an entire day (8+ hours) just to select the images from those I'd captured, and sort them into their little sub-folders, with suitable tagging so that I didn't want to commit seppuku when I started on the programming.
And, now that I'm on the programming portion, it's taking longer than I'd hoped too. And I'm almost certain I'm missing things...and have some serious concerns about performance once I get to testing. Because this engine doesn't have anything like a proper switch/case statement, I'm having to rely on a truly horrific number of nested If statements to do the same thing...I seriously will never even consider using this engine again, after Chastity Quest is finished T-T.
Anyway, that's the state of this as of this moment. Not excuse me while I go weep manly tears of blood as I code more for the really cool thing that I stupidly thought was a good idea to put in my game...
