Status Report

Hi. Thank you for sticking around. A lot has happened lately and I think I should make a post about it.

Broken Device

I've unfortunately lost my device and all its data. I won't go into the details of the event, all I can say is that it had me talking to the police a couple of times. Now I'm on a backup laptop that could barely play videos and browse web. As a result the scripting break is going to take longer than I expected. Much apologies on that.

ES Moderator

As you've probably noticed, I'm now a forum moderator. It is more of a labor to be fair as now I have a long list of flags to review everyday. I also have no access to the very site settings I wanted to tweak (such as plugin preferences and custom emoji) when I applied to mod, so I can't really realize the few suggestions I've made before.

I can tell the site is lacking moderation forces too. Me yapping in the mod chat alone made me feel like the only one without a life there (which is not true).

Forum Policy Change

You know what this is about.

The discussion about these changes have emerged prior to my arrival. I did raise many concerns regarding it and suggested alternative solutions, which weren't taken and now we have that announcement and the dramatic responses below it.

My biggest concern is that the other mods, particularly the admins that are responsible for the removal task won't be bothered to assess the subject case by case. Most likely they'll run an automated script and remove all topics with the tag. To minimize the loss I've combed through the topics to un-tag ones that are apparently not the case and forwarded all dubious ones to staff chat, pushing them to cast vote on them.

It started well but quickly gone stagnated. I think we've all realized how difficult it is to assess stylized depictions. It also appears that our criteria is too tolerant that some borderline cases would have to be removed off the tag, leaving ones who dislike the trope unable to filter them.

Now the admins are looking for new hosts. Pray this goes well so we can abort whatever gentlemanly discussion we were having.
