again no message patreon... wth is going on?! Ah don't get me wrong, i didn't mean that they need to be punished, it was just that they didn't anticipate this problem... Haha, i also would use this time loop for some interesting things, maybe even some questionable things? (As I can turn it back, just to see how it turns out?) - NOT THAT questionable though ^^' I got a lot of theories, some are common, some are solely mine - and with some I pestered you😅 - thanks for bearing with me. Guess I just assumed it was gonna be a loop Okay I wasn’t the only one thinking about S&M 😂😅 She didn’t try since she was caught in the cycle 😭 True but I mean she needs to remember they don’t know she has lived through this so she has to ease up and not take it out on them 🥺 The dazzlings!! Hey….. I’m just noticing what the animators are animating 😶🫢 Sunset getting told she’s the problem. That was kind of satisfying but hurtful Love the speech she gave post crush! Honestly I would not because I like progressing and continuing with my weight and MLP. Maybe I’d eat bad knowing it wouldn’t effect me tomorrow 😂 I’m glad you loved this! I especially thought it was one of the best ones. Sunset and pinkie combo was perfect, the hoops and lessons sunset had to go through to get to the conclusion of how this idea of perfection can ruin the shared experiences and time with people AND for that to play into postcrush’s time and amazing song looping was beyond brilliant. Empathy, time, and sunset is a masterful combo 😂😁. And I like that theory that she was uneffected since her connections to equestrian magic. The dazzlings was a welcome addition! And you’re right that it is odd they are in this limbo of acknowledging their mistakes and ways but still hold a grudge. I respect that since not everyone can be forgiving and accepting. This didn’t need a “villain” as the bad person ended up being the standard we look towards being “perfection”. This being the last serious EQG related content was a great send off. I really hope we get some EQG (mainly sunset) cross over in S9!

I'm just gonna go." - In fact, seventeen days... and it seems she's done a lot of things... except for two: escaping and asking princess Twilight... Her trying to escape the Camp- and festival-grounds by driving off was... interesting... "Find the Magic" was very short, but sounded really good - the full version you should have heard already in the shorts... That guard seems to be an interesting guy with the sappy backstory about wanting a kitten... And Pinkies failure was still a success as they were able to bribe him with said cat, to get backstage... Sunset Shimmer: "If you spend all your time keeping people out, how are you ever gonna let anybody in... to your heart?" - great message! "Am I weird, or were her hips actually swinging when she was walking?" - Wow, Ed, are you seriously ogling her now? 😅 - But honestly... yeah, they did. Sunset embracing now every challenge with Pinkie Pie with the best possible outcome, but a courtesy of all the collected infos of prior "days". Sunset Shimmer: "Five hundred seventy-two and a half, counting the green jellybean you ate part of in the parking lot." - These guessing-games are truly rigged... What would you do if your day would repeat over and over again? --- In Sunset's Backstage Pass, Sunset Shimmer becomes trapped in a time loop at the Starswirled Music Festival, reliving the first day over and over. The cause of this is the Time Twirler, a magical artifact being used by PostCrush to perfect their performance. What follows is a deeply engaging story filled with emotional conflicts, meaningful lessons, and well-crafted character development. = Sunset and Pinkie Pie's Dynamics = The pairing of Sunset and Pinkie as the central characters was a refreshing choice, as it's something we hadn't seen in Equestria Girls before. I loved how their differences were highlighted as Sunset's more goal-oriented, structured approach was clashing with Pinkie's carefree and spontaneous nature. And as much as I adore Pinkie's antics, I felt that her behavior in this special was taken to an extreme. While her spontaneity and humor are core parts of her character, here they sometimes crossed the line into frustration. Moments like her repeated interruptions of Sunset's attempts to see PostCrush (especially the churro bit) stood out as particularly exasperating. Like you, I found myself empathizing with Sunset's growing frustration, which built naturally as the time loop repeated. At the same time, it was clear that Pinkie wasn't intentionally sabotaging anything. She just wanted to have fun and make memories with Sunset, which made the tension between them feel even more poignant. that is why Sunset's decision to "ditch" Pinkie during the loop added another layer of emotional complexity. On one hand, I completely understood her perspective as this was PostCrush's last performance, and Sunset was desperate to see it. But on the other hand, the way she treated Pinkie felt harsh and unfair, especially since Pinkie had no idea what was going on. It's easy to see how both characters were at fault: Sunset for prioritizing her own desires over her friendship, and Pinkie for being oblivious to Sunset's goals and acting in ways that exacerbated the problem. For me, this balance made their arc both compelling and thought-provoking. = The Dazzlings as Red Herrings = The inclusion of the Dazzlings as red herrings was a clever twist. Given their history as villains, it made perfect sense for Sunset to initially suspect them of using the Time Twirler. Their mysterious behavior at the festival added to the suspicion, and it was only through confronting them that Sunset learned they weren't responsible. Instead, they were just performing without their magic, using vocal processing and musical loops to create their sound. I liked how this encounter added another lead to the plot. The Dazzlings even delivered an unintentional lesson to Sunset when they mockingly suggested that her frustration with Pinkie might be her own fault. However, their disdain for humans (aswell as ponies) and lack of true redemption was an interesting choice. They're not entirely malicious anymore, but they haven't let go of their grudges either. And the thought of them returning to Equestria definitely left me uneasy as they definitely seem like the type to stir up mischief again. 😏 And the inclusion was also a nod to the fans, who wanted to see them again... = The Time Twirler and Sunset's Role = The Time Twirler itself was a fascinating artifact. While its mechanics weren't fully explained, the idea of it being a long-lost Equestrian relic tied nicely into the lore. I liked the implication that Sunset's Equestrian origin might have been the reason she retained her memories of the loops. Her role as the element of empathy and her ability to read memories could also explain why she was uniquely affected... = Overall Thoughts = Sunset's Backstage Pass was an incredible special. The time-loop concept was executed brilliantly, creating a story that was equal parts entertaining and meaningful. The dynamic between Sunset and Pinkie was a highlight, as their conflict and eventual reconciliation felt both natural and heartfelt. 2024-11-15 07:44:40 +0000 UTCPerfect special for me, I’ve always loved this one I love watching it again, love the concept of a time loop lol 😂 I always think what would I do if I had to live the same day over again, living the same day over again with sunset would be pretty nice 😉 lol jk but sunset is definitely one of my favorites I’d love to meet her VA she was at a pony convention not to long ago lol I was so jealous when i saw pics of fans meeting her! she seems super chill and sweet, but yeah I love this special, the sirens being back was something that everyone wanted so great seeing they are wanting to change and be better, also I love post crush lol 😆 they are very sassy like girls love the attitude and outfits they are perfect lol the song is a banger too, I liked seeing them kinda realize live music doesn’t have to be perfect, and you can still have have fun even if there are small errors, some people ship them two lol they do seem like very good friends I like it, also I like how sunset and post crush was sorta going through same problem about perfection and things getting in the way, perfection is impossible and things don’t have to be perfect to be amazing! such a great concept also seeing sunset wanting to be better and making pinkies day was just beautiful!

(Not seeing her upset though 😭) Very true! I do think they learned they lesson but it’s new to see them be in this middle ground portrayal. Maybe sunset can talk to starswirl about not banishing them 😂

One thing I find particularly interesting (though it isn't a big part of this) is the direction they went with the Dazzlings. Every other villain in the franchise is either redeemed or remains totally evil till the end. The Dazzlings here are shown to be the only one that is neither. They just went right back to the life of ennui they were experiencing before Rainbow Rocks (only more extremely since they don't even have their magic). On an unrelated note, this special is a decent argument for Sunset/Pinkie shipping.
