New KayKit Character Animations!
KayKit Character Animations available on itch and a .zip is included at the bottom of this post.
Some existing animations have been updated/fixed/reworked, new animations have been added (bow using, sneaking/crouching/crawling and more!)
All new animations for the Rig_Large character. No more scaled/unscaled issues with Rig_Large characters either :D
This update makes it easier for me to add new animations in the future, already planned are more advanced movement animations like swimming and fishing, and also a set of tool animations like fishing and digging etc.
All animations are free, any new animations in the future will also remain free!
All rigged KayKit characters have been updated to work with this new animation system:
Mystery Series 6 updated characters to be found in the Series 6 Collection

Adventurers 2.0
The Adventurers have gotten a big (free) update too in this process, the headlines:
All 6 characters have been visually upgraded for more detail
New Free character + Accessories (Ranger character, comes with Bow)
New EXTRA tier character (Barbarian_Large)
Updated rigs to be compatible with the new KayKit Character Animations

The Complete KayKit Collection

Next up
I'll spend a couple of weeks to process the same updates/changes for all the Unity Asset Store packages as well, and I'll post the updated Discord exclusive characters (Prototype Pete and Santa) shortly as well. Once I've got everything updated I'll have a nice clean slate to carry on with regular assets, I'll make another Patreon update post listing everything I've got in progress then :)
As always, thank you for your continued support and Happy Halloween! ๐

2025-10-28 03:55:24 +0000 UTCThis was a big investment for me right now, especially since I have already purchased everything on that list from you on itch (except for the character packs). However I did want to be supportive, and with the quality of your assets I wanted to keep you working on new ones so I just got it and am installing them now. I just finished the GameDev.TV Halloween Jam and came in 12th using primarily your assets. (Thanks for sponsoring it!) One of the issues that I encountered was I was not able to easily re-color parts of objects, which resulted in background and foreground objects getting confused by players. I've since realized the easy solution is to just copy the texture, recolor appropriate blocks and apply it as the texture to the objects. (Basically some players couldn't tell when dumpsters and cars were springboards and when they weren't.) One of the things I've been really wanting (and may have mentioned before) is to be able to apply textures to different parts of your models without figuring out how to go into Blender to solve the problem. It's pure laziness on my part. For example the knight's body is primarily silver-ish and red. It'd be cool to be able to apply different textures and change model colors more easily. What I don't know is how much that would bloat the models, because I assume the texture painting method you use is to save memory. But it's just an assumption. Anyway, it's just a request I had. Separately, it's really nice that you have so many free models when a jam doesn't let you use paid stuff. But like, maybe in the future you can convince GameDev.tv to let people use YOUR paid stuff. I feel like that might get you some business and not be too "unfair" since you still provide a lot of stuff. Excited to see what you create next!
