Hey patrons! I'm so excited to give you a sneak peek at the new Rallycross map I'm working on. Driving around Northern California has unveiled some incredibly fun gravel and dirt roads that I think you'll love racing on.

I captured an outer loop of about 2.5 miles which includes a long stretch of gravel on Indiana School Road. I also mapped a tight and twisty side loop (above) that connects via asphalt roads. When it's all done, it will create a really dynamic circuit with options to run clockwise or counter-clockwise, as well as multiple layouts using the smaller inner road.

The shorter inner gravel loop is around 3/4 of a mile while the outer loop totals over 2.5 miles. By connecting them in different ways, we can have multiple layouts on the same map. For example, the rally course could start on asphalt, hit the tight gravel technical section, go back to asphalt briefly, then finish on the longer gravel road that connects back to the start.

Learning to properly log GPS data while capturing has been critical for mapping these large outdoor areas accurately. I'm still dialing in my workflow, but it's coming along nicely. This map has already taken many hours of driving, recording, processing and aligning - but it will all be worth it to bring you something unique and challenging.

Northern California has so many cool backroads, forests and mountains to explore. I may extend my time up here to capture some additional maps and areas. Though I was advised to avoid potential cartel territory, there are plenty of safe roads and trails around!
