Your description of mindfucking is really different than the one I was thinking of. Mainly because I think of mindfucking in a consensual kinky dynamic as being sort of a "wink wink aren't we having fun that I don't know what is actually going on" not as an angry abusive person just beating you because he's set up rules and then made you not follow them, or told you to do something and then is mad that you did it. What's missing is the consent, the joy, the willing suspension of disbelief and the trust. When you have a "wink wink, we are having a fun game of this" attitude on the part of the one being mind fucked that is consent based. Anyway, I have good associations with the word because that's how it worked in my dynamic.
