Freya was gentler and more agreeable than the other Norse deities. Where Thor accomplished his goals through aggression and Odin and Loki resorted to trickery, Frejya achieved her ends with the gentler persuasions of gifts, beauty, and sex. While Frejya was often unselfish and helpful, she did have a darker side. Like the male gods, Freya had a taste for blood and fought fiercely in battle. It was said she took the lives of half the warriors ever slain in battle.

Ah, Frejya... After learning more about her while working on this piece, I have actually come to appreciate this goddess even more then before. When it comes to the gods, she seems to be one of the most well rounded in my mind. She has a soft side, a sexy side, a mystical side, a dark side and a warrior side.
I want to continue reading more about her and maybe do some more artworks of her eventually. In most of the mythology she doesn't actually seem to wield armor or weapons, but as head of the Valkyries, I think it could be cool to do another piece of her ready for battle.
But for now I hope you like this piece of her showcasing my design of this goddess. Also thanks for being patient with this one. It took me a while to really hone in on a design for her that I really liked. But I hope you like how she came out!
