Time for another relaxing Lineart heavy portrait!  While I do like the color scheme of this piece, I love the lineart so much that there is a big part of me that was tempted to just leave it at lineart and not include the color.

What do you guys think?  Which version appeals to you the most: Finished Colors, Flat Colors, Lineart, or filled in with one solid color?  I feel like there's a bit of charm in each version, so I have such a tough time deciding which I prefer.

You may have noticed that I have been absent on Twitch the past couple Fridays.  That is because I have been streaming on Saturdays!  My streaming schedule has been a tiny bit looser lately.  I will always stream on either Friday or Saturday, but which day is dependent on how spent I am by Friday night.  The past few weeks I have felt like I needed Friday evenings to sit in the quiet and recuperate.    That being said, I am streaming TONIGHT!  So I hope to see you there!  8pm CET! twitch.tv/chrissabug

Lots of fun stuff is coming later this month!

I see! Thank you for answering. I appreciate it greatly. I've tried to figure out how to get this look for a long time and tried SO many brushes to get that chalky feel and it's as simple as a paper texture layer... gosh!

SheiFoxy

The hard light shows more on the colors but it still shows up outside of that as well. I don't usually mask it off though since my goal is to cause a more traditional paper look over the whole piece.

ChrissaBug

After you put the texture on and switch to hard light do you have to do any other steps like masking areas? Or does switching to hard light cause it to only show up some places like it does? That looks so good. Oh, yeah I should look at your PSD. Thank you! <3

SheiFoxy

Thank you for letting me know! The chalky texture is made with a mixture of a paper texture that I put on the top layer and the chrissa messy ink brush that I use. I think the look you are mainly referring to is probably coming from the paper texture though. For this one, I believe I just used one of the default paper textures in clip studio paint and switched it to either overlay or hard light. (You can download and take a look at the photoshop file to double-check which, and look through the layers if you want)

Thank you! Yeah, it takes a lot of exploration to see what resonates I think! I still feel like I have to experiment and explore to find what I like.

ChrissaBug

Ooh thank you! And thank you for letting me know which you prefer! Lineart might be my fave too!

ChrissaBug

Ooh thank you Sqishy! And thank you for letting me know which you prefer!

ChrissaBug

Aww! Thank you so much Lia!!

ChrissaBug

I like the lineart and the finished piece best. Chrissa, how did you get that chalky texture on the colored version? I am trying to figure out how to do that and have been experimenting for a while now! Is it a brush? Thank you for sharing your art with us!

SheiFoxy
