Here is a full Time-lapse Video w/music for the piece: Teatime Spell
Like I said in the artwork post, this is one of those pieces that I wasn't 100 percent satisfied with, mainly because the angle of the face is a really tricky one BUT I do really like the direction.
You may notices in the early shading part of the process, I actually turned on a gray layer and shaded on top of that rather then worrying about her local colors right away and I think it made the process of basic shading a little smoother. I might start approaching more of my art that way. Basically shading the art before I add in any local colors. That way I won't be distracted by colors and can just focus on volumes.
You may I did a fair amount of paintover on this piece after the basic colors and shading are in, especially in the face as I tried to move around some features to get the angles to feel right and I think because of that I was able to get some pretty nice textures.
You guys know I love doing lineart, but for some reason more and more, as I progress in coloring a piece, I feel like I have to do more paintover on top of everything to really bring life to the art. I'm not 100 percent sure why this is, but I guess it gives the art a kind of in-between lineart based and painting based look.
Anyhoo! The music I found for this piece is pretty epic. You can check it out in the credits below
