Here is a full Time-lapse Video w/music for the piece: Fairy Gossip
This was kind of an interesting portrait because I started it from scratch during a twitch stream when I was so utterly exhausted that I just didn't have any plans for what to work on! But I have said it before, sometimes those are the artworks that turn out to be the most fun because it is such a discovery process.
When it comes to the colors, I was inspired bit by a cool and faded color pallet. I tend to struggle with any sort of faded color pallet because I have such a tendancy to want to ramp up the contrast and saturation. But I feel like she came out okay. She looks like she is in a misty forest!
A few people kept asking what she was looking at and what she was so happy about and I had no idea until closer to the end of the piece. I was originally not going to include anything and just keep the focus only on her. But I realized that it would add so much more to the story if she was actually looking at something. And really the only thing that made sense to me was that she would be chatting with a little pixie of the forest! And I love the idea that the different species of fae that live in the forest might be gossiping about all the goings ons of their little magical nook of the world!
News: We're having a stream today! I'm going to dive into the deep archives of my deviantArt all the way back to hidden middle school artwork!
