Here is the timelapse for Hades and Persephone with music! Enjoy!
The start of this sketch was done on a break in the city and then I brought the file home to work on on my own time after the initial rough sketch, which is essentially where the timelapse begins.
I had been sitting on the sketch for quite a while. Probably longer then a month before finally getting to working on it. I first started doing my normal lineart process but then I decided that I wanted to take inspiration from some other artists who work in much thinner but still distinct lineart to see how I like it. So I began re-drawing all of the lineart in a much thinner style, as you'll see in the timelapse.
As I mentioned, thin lineart just tends to take a bit longer to do BUT I did enjoy it and I enjoyed adding in a little bit more thin details, like in the cloth of Persephone's dress. I LOVE how the folded sleeve that's tucked into her ribbons turned out. I can see myself finding some sort of in between place for my own style. Maybe not always drawing lineart this thin but still incorporating the thin little details in some areas of my work.
Moving on to the color and shading. The shading is super minimal in this piece. Again, trying to take note of how a few other artists are able to complete their illustrations without much shading and relying more on a mixture of lineart, gradients, and texture.
I think I MAYBE could have found a way to go heavier on the textures but overall I like how this piece came out. I think that it communicates the emotion that I wanted, hints at a story and I was able to do the colors in a more manageable timeframe then my normal work. So I'm happy! lol
Anyway, I hope you like it!
