🎨TUTORIAL//Drawing Female Bodytypes

✨This tutorial is all about drawing female bodytypes!  I'm especially excited for this tutorial because I, myself, tend to fall back on drawing very similar body types as a default, as I think many artists do, when in reality, there is so much variety and giving more variety to our character's body types makes them more unique and distinguishable!

🎨In this tutorial, I go over some very basic anatomy to keep in mind when it comes to where more fat tends to accumulate on female bodies, vs where fat and muscle tend to be more sparse, then we move into how I approach drawing torsos, before moving on to how I  construct the body and drawing a couple different body types, from thin, to muscular, to heavy-set.   Finally, we'll move on to more loose free-form body type exploration using shapes as inspiration.

I say it in  the tutorial but I just want to reiterate, that you should keep in mind that body types are unique from person to person depending on their genetics, hormones, lifestyle, etc.  So while I give some examples and "rules" in this tutorial, you can bend and break those guides where suites your character best!

I hope that this tutorial will help you kick off exploring a variety of body-types! I know that it making it has inspired me to try and incorporate more body-diversity in my own art moving forward!

I'm so happy to hear that it was helpful!! I used to struggle with the same thing in figure drawing. Learning to do the line of action, shoulders, hips and then torso as my "order of operations" was such a game changer for me too!

This is such a well rounded tutorial! Though reference is always important, I knew I was lacking some sort of understanding that would allow me to create my own poses, without relying so heavily on pictures. When creating, I used to start with a sloppy line of action and a very detailed head.... then, I'd struggle indefinitely till the whole body looked cohesive 😅 I tried your method and wow, thinking about the torso first really makes a huge difference. I love how detailed you got throughout this whole video, without making the information overwhelming!
