Hello hello! Here is the time-lapse speedpaint🖌️ with music for : Scarlet Sonnet
This was a very self indulgent piece and pretty simple so it flowed fairly well and I didn't have to do too much adjusting after the lineart was in. I did change his clothing a bit after I stared laying in color though.
The main colors chosen for this piece was red as the main "pop" color and then gray and desaturated blue. Though there is some orange in some parts of his skin. Working with such a limited pallet tends to make finding that color harmony a lot easier for me, and I'm definitely someone who has struggled with too many saturated colors in the past.
For the background and especially the flowers, I knew that I wanted the feeling of flowers back there, but to be honest, I really didn't want to draw the flowers individually. I have this constant struggle of LOVING floral artwork but I find drawing flowers so dang tedious! So I tried to give them more of a watercolor look. Leaning on that sort of loose look that you see in impressionism. I think it is kind of a nice look because it also adds atmosphere to the piece.
Next, the frame! I was feeling like the top left corner was especially feeling kind of empty, so I decided to try a frame overlay. To make this overlay I pulled in a photo of a frame, and then I semi-traced the designs of that frame. It isn't a 1 to 1 exact tracing but it gave me something to work from and get some interesting shapes.
Anyhoo! I hope you enjoy! Happy watching!!
