A Little About the Process
In this piece I really tried to make the textured lineart carry the art by adding thicker lines and even blocking in areas that would be in shadow. Working this way allowed me to do minimal shading and rendering for the piece, which was a really nice change of pace for me. Rendering isn't my favorite part of the process, so if I can minimize that part by maximizing my FAVORITE part of the process (lineart), that is a huge win!!
While not exactly the same, the cat is definitely inspired by my current foster, potential future adopt cat. I'll drop a little photo for you below to look at him! He has some orange fur and has a big wide fluffy face, although the rest of his body is currently shaved. He was found as a very matted stray, so they had to shave his fluff off. He is definitely a trouble maker, so I think that fits just about right with a cat who lives in the hells!
