A little about the process
As I mentioned in the art post, this piece actually started out as a NSFW version, but it felt a little odd to me as I continued working on it, so I ended up with only the SFW version. Because of that, the start of this timelapse is 'censored' nsfw. Hehe.
Anyway, I'll be honest with you guys, I have been a bit burnt out. Not surprising, considering how many projects I'm juggling. As I sat down to try and figure out what to draw as a personal piece to start off the month here on patreon, I struggled with coming up with an idea I was excited about.
Finally, I remembered that I had been toying with the idea of tarot for a while. So I pulled up a list of the swords suit (because I seem to be on a sword kick!) and took a look at all the cards. The 3 of swords immediately called out to me because it deals with some heavier emotions, and I guess with a lot going on right now, it felt right. I often use the act of creating emotional art to help process my own emotions.
The classic 3 of Swords design is of a heart stabbed by three swords, symbolizing pain, heartache, sorrow, grief, loss, depression, betrayal, etc... If you draw the card reversed, it can soften the blow a bit and can signify releasing pain, optimism, finding forgiveness, overcoming depression, etc...
