Rogue Femme with hand-drawn art?

Hey everyone,

Recently, I got back into drawing! Although I used to draw when I was younger, this time I’m trying to emulate the style I have in Rogue Femme. I also thought, why not draw the game characters directly, so I have a clear goal to work towards? After seeing my initial results, I’m considering creating a version of Rogue Femme without any AI-generated images.

Using AI to create images was very convenient. It allowed me to progress the game at a speed that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. However, I always felt like the art wasn’t truly mine, and it seemed a bit "fake."

First of all, don't worry—I won’t be focusing all my time on drawing. The game as it is now will remain my top priority and will be completed with the current art. But since I’m drawing for fun anyway, I’m thinking about making a second version with entirely my own art. What I’m wondering is: Do you think it’s worth it? Do you like my not-professional, imperfect but (in my opinion) decent art?

Here are some things to consider about my art skills: I need a lot of time to draw a decent character, I can’t draw complex poses, I might reuse some poses (making the art less diverse), I’m not good at coloring/shading, I struggle with drawing hands and feet (but I’ll try my best), and I’m still drawing with a mouse (I don’t own a drawing tablet). However, I’ll improve over time and might invest in better equipment.

Thanks for your feedback!

You mean separate scenes at the shop depending on the TF stage? Nothing is impossible but it is all a matter of time. Currently the main game is progressing already too slow for my taste. This might be more something for the polishing stage at the end.

if you enjoy using and improving your drawing skills then go for it. if it helps to keep you motivated for this project, its a good thing. for my part i liked the ai-style but that doesnt mean i dont like a hand drawn equivalent. another question: is it impossible to include a bit more of visual roleplay immersion? like the mc doing his/hers Wilderness overnight stay or in the witch's hut between the encounters in the appropriate transformation stage?

If you wanna go for it, go for it. Honestly I think it looks better than the AI art.

You do you. If you enjoy drawing, then go for it. If you want production/progress/money, AI is the way to go. Choosing what you actually want out of life is one of the hardest things.
