Yeah when he killed the frog that was supposed to summon Naruto and let the village get destroyed by pain he totally did it for the sake of the village huh kid. No it was stupid because how does bro not realize how the summoning roster works? Killing the messenger frog did nothing but delay his arrival because obviously they found out when his name disappeared from it. Even if he can't take 100% credit for the win, if Naruto didn't show up they were fucked and that's just factual. He wanted to prevent Naruto from coming at all, so don't credit him for that. Danzo wanted to leave the village crippled and swoop in as the big hero who rebuilt it with his ideals structure. He only wanted to keep Naruto safe so that he could eventually control him, as Madara is letting on. It's actually crazy to me that there's anyone who thinks that plan would have worked out for Danzo; he got lucky it didn't play out how he wanted.

naw he twisted the second's ideals in the completely wrong direction. It all became about power and control for him and was willing to sacrifice innocent villagers during both the Orochimaru and Pain attacks on the village. He doesn't have the will of fire, just a mockery of it. You can see that in the flashback scene; him and the Second were not on the same page in all respects

I can relate to your frustrations Jay Voorhees but at the same time I have when you watch so many other shows your memory can become clouded. They are doing a fantastic job considering that they watch one without re-watching each episode more than once. So, the story they were trying to tell with Danzo is that he's a man that will do ANYTHING to protect the village, no matter how underhanded. His intentions were "good" but his means were "bad." When Pain attacked the village, he saw this as bad for the village in the short term, but good for the village in the long term because then he finally gets to be the hokage and make the best decisions for the village.

Mike And Alexis, yes, Danzo's was not a good person but he deeply did care for the village. He worked in shadows with the foundation to do the necessary evil to keep the village's peace and prosperity. In the real world. every country has an agency that works in secrecy and do horrific actions to keep their country's peace and prosperity. For example, the CIA destabilizes other countries to keep resources cheap and maintain America's superiority as a World Power. Russia has an agency called the KGB that does the same. China has the MSS. Would you deem all the people that work in those agencies as evil? Even though, they might be ruining other people's life, but it is in the interest of protecting their country. Would getting rid of all those agencies really bring peace? The answer is that it's complicated. Those agencies are similar to Danzo and the Foundation. I believe this is what the creator of Naruto, Kishimoto, was trying to convey with Danzo and the Foundation.

While danzo caused problems think of it like this. In the beginning of Shippuden he wanted to dispose of Sasuke. If he did this Sasuke wouldn't have been around to commit all the current crimes he did and trying to destroy the leaf. Villages get rid of rogue ninjas and the leaf village except for danzo, was unwilling to do what they did because of emotional ties to him. He wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty to do what was needed and didn't care about being liked. Other times though he was just flat out wrong but the same can be said for the third hokage who let orochimaru live which let the leaf to be attacked.
