In-between the new themed Bubble-gum Bouguereau photo reference series we're sharing tonal portrait photo-sets which use a single light source to light the model. Todays model is Adam, who has newly been inducted into our crew of Patreon-supported models. The series is intended to accompany our Portrait Drawing course which is soon to resume with a focus on tonal drawing. Justyna used both a light and dark background for the dramatically lit photographs and the ones shot with a black background immediately put me in mind of Rupert Alexander's Portrait Of Christopher Darroux-Xavier from the 2007 BP Portrait Prize, where the contours of the model's head are lost into the background, making the face an island of tonal shapes.
