I also forgot to say that they recommend you use your right hand, not your left. You chant with the right hand, and wrap them around your left wrist.

'Polishing the Mirror', according to my Amazon account, was one of the first books (if not the first book) I read on this present spiritual journey back in 2013. When I revisited it on my way back to Hawaii last December, it hit me that my entire present practice... the seeds were planted back then! It only took about 600 more books, daily, super-lengthy meditations, and multiple teachers and teachings to recognize that I already had everything I needed. I HIGHLY recommend that one. I also recommend 'Chants of a Lifetime'. He sums up Bhakti Yoga (devotional or Divine Love yoga) in those pages and uses great stories and the best quotes through the ages to illustrate (I recommend the audio book because he just recorded it last year and he edited parts of it-- it's amazing). And although I haven't read 'Way of the Pilgrim' from cover to cover, it's a Christian Mysticism classic, and the parts I did read and often quote are powerful. He also shares great recommendations for further reading. He chanted 'Lord Jesus have mercy on me, a sinner' constantly throughout the day. No cessation.
