Nice catch on Temple of Doom :-) You say you like the architecture seen in the Bond films. From Dr. No, the dome room with the spider and meshed hole ceiling, Dr. No’s living quarters that was built out of a cave, Goldfinger’s playroom with the pool table, and the design of Fort Knox… all due to the films’ Production Designer, Ken Adam. He had a very unique eye, and created the style of Set Design that would influence later production designers of the Bond films. He did 7 of the early films, including Dr. No, Goldfinger, Thunderball and You Only Live Twice. He was unable to do From Russia With Love, because he had already committed to doing Stanley Kubrick’s, Dr. Strangelove. If you’ve seen that film you could probably see the similarities in production design. ——————————- A lot of Austin Powers’ inspiration for the Spoofs certainly came from James Bond. There were also other spy films and TV shows that were the inspiration for the Story and Plot as well, and the 60s Culture was the source of the main "Spoof." ————————————- Oddjob was played by Harold Sakata, who was a professional wrestler at the time and before, had been the first Hawaiian to receive a Silver Medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics for Weightlifting. Goldfinger was his first acting job and was not used to film stunt work. As told by Sean Connery in an interview years later, “Harold was monumentally strong, but a very genuine and gentle guy. And he gave me that chop behind the neck at the fridge, he put me on the floor. He wasn’t quite used to the cinema technique of taking it to the wire and then stopping, you know. And uhh… some days I think I still have it from then.” If it’s done right, one blow to the back of the neck WILL put someone down… for a long while. ————————— When Coby saw All the thousands of soldiers and townsfolk falling down lifeless after Pussy’s planes flew over the military base and town, gassing everyone around Fort Knox, she said, “I feel like that’s just way too much Murder.” I think James Bond thought the same. Let’s go back to the Barn scene with James and Pussy. A lot of people today find this scene laughable or “borderline” something unspeakable. I don’t think people realize the gravity of the situation that James Bond was in at this moment. At the time of the Barn scene, Bond is being held captive by a Madman who, in less than 24 hours is going to Murder 60,000 innocent people and explode an atomic device inside of Fort Knox, creating economic chaos in the West, not to mention possibly killing thousands more. Bond does not know where the Bomb is and is led to believe that if anyone was to try and intercept the Bomb before it arrives at Fort Knox, it just may explode in an even worse location. He found out just before going into the barn, that his Note for the CIA and tracking device were not discovered and destroyed. Bond looking a bit discouraged now, as Pussy, dressed in a revealing blouse, takes his arm and smilingly says, “Well, how ‘bout it handsome? Don’t you think it’s time we got to know each other socially?” This “New Ms. Galore” reveals an opportunity that Bond had thought before, might be an impossibility, since she revealed earlier that she was “immune.” Pussy says, “I’m completely defenseless.” Bond says, “So am I.” But, Perhaps Not. James Bond is alone and disarmed. If he was to break free and escape, he could lose Goldfinger and the plan could change, possibly for the worse. He must get word to the CIA and warn them, without Goldfinger finding out. He needs an Ally. “What would it take for you to see things my way?” Bond asks Pussy. “A lot more than you’ve got.” That’s a challenge for James Bond, and ultimately is his only option if he wants to save 60,000 innocent lives. He learns fast it won’t be easy. After all, she is “quite a girl.” James Bond used the only Tools he had left in his arsenal… his charm, charisma and of course, sexual prowess. Like it or not, these are actual Tools that he can use, and he does know how to use them well. He even uses them as a weapon at times, to either disarm or even Turn an adversary over to his side. It doesn't always work, as you may see later in another Bond film. James Bond was at the end of his rope and used his only available weapon to disarm and Turn an Enemy into an Ally. And It Worked. I mean really, how else could it have gone? He realized his female captor was resisting, and stopped, then apologized to her. And began thinking of another way to stop Goldfinger and Pussy from murdering 60,000 innocent lives, by the next morning, that doesn’t involve force towards his Female Captor, Pussy. I’m assuming beating her up until she agreed to help would not have been better than just forcing a love scene on her (one of the bad people), but I could be wrong. If it’s any consolation, the actress Honor Blackman didn’t seem to mind too much. I’ll end with a couple quotes from Honor Blackman. On the name Pussy Galore, “It's very much tongue-in-cheek, isn't it? I mean, if you're so po-faced that you have to take that seriously, well, bad luck. But it was very funny.” And on Sean Connery, “I mean he is… I think without a doubt the sexiest man I ever met. He has a natural authority, charisma… he’s very virile.” Again… I could be wrong, but I think She had fun on this movie.

Guys please let Coby continue the Bond journey. Even if she moves on to some of the films from the other Bonds. Please, it's so rare to get this kind of reaction to these 'older' Bond films.

I watched this in the movies when I was about 10 years old. I know for a young adult watching this in 2024 you have a different perspective based on your own life experiences, but I have to tell you to a kid or even teenage or 1960's era young adult, this was freakin amazing. Even today most people call Goldfinger in the top 2 or 3 of all Bond movies across era's. I actually really love Thunderball. https://chicagofilmscene.com/the-ultimate-james-bond-film-ranking-including-no-time-to-die/, Between the ages of 8 and 12 I watched most Sean Connery James Bonds and i've Daniel Craig recently, but sorry Sean Connery is hands down my fav James Bond. You also have to understand in the 60's and 70's there were no mass shootings, and the two types of very popular movies and even TV shows, were Secret Agent or Westerns. There was even a popular song called secret agent man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iaR3WO71j4, and a fav toys for not only boys but even some girls were secret agent attaché cases. As a kid along with my barbies I had one of these cases as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t6Bd0MwEh8. It was just a different time to be a kid :)

All the Connery Bonds are good, but the next in the series, Thunderball, was always my favorite.

I believe that the Ford Mustang is a 1964 1/2. First one ever!
