2020-04-29 19:54:44 +0000 UTCI love Fruits Basket, you're right that it is a very warm show but it's also not all sunshine and rainbows and dives into a lot of real issues people face day to day. So without spoiling, the show revolves around the chinese zodiac which is why in the season 2 opening you're seeing animals. The season 1 openings are vague in showing the plot because it's going on the premise that a lot of people watching already know the story and for those that haven't read the manga or seen the old anime aren't spoiled on anything. I'm only guessing on the reason for the umbrellas in the 2nd opening is because in the latter half of the season there's turmoil for most characters but the skies clearing meaning it's resolved which is why they throw the umbrellas away at the end.
