Shizune? if Anko is disqualified just by having a male teacher, when practically every male character must too. Konan too. She was attached to Yahiko, not Nagato. So now a female can't have a male conrade, or else she's badly written female character? There's plenty of bad writing examples without having to distort the few well written. Tayuya? Temari? Hinata? Kushina? I like Karin too. Hidden Cloud has quite a few female ninja.

Thank you for not overreacting to Sakuras plan. I think we all know it wasn't gonna work but some people really take this episode to bash her character completely as if it doesn't make sense why she tried it. Genuinely she would not have tried this plan had Sai not cornered her in the tent a few episodes back. He put a lot of shit in her head and this was the result. I'm just glad you didn't decide she's shit now. It wasn't a great plan but it was an attempt at saving Naruto regardless of if it worked or not. Naruto is the most important friend in her life and I doubt it was fun for her to do.

I personally think that the only female character written well in Naruto is Tsunade, other female characters are only defined by their relationship with the guy characters who have some kind of past. Great examples are Anko and Konan, both very interesting and cool but defined by their connection to Orochimaru and Nagato. It's similar for Sakura, and she's one of the main characters so it's a bit more disappointing when she has arcs like this. At least she makes up for it with her badassness.

Sakura's big problems are that she's selfish and ignorant and never really has to deal with the consequences of that. She's extremely privileged and sheltered compared to the majority of the cast and never has that moment of understanding like the rest of the main characters do. Extremely wasted potential, but so are most of the female cast members tbf
