Fate/Zero was also my entry into the fate series and I was also confused as hell in the beginning. A lot of explanation going on and tons of names dropped, it's a little hard to keep track. But it remained my favorite Fate anime for a long time, that is until the Heaven's Feel movie trilogy came out. Those were just a notch above for me.
