ORIGINAL POST: Hey, guys. Pappy here. Things have been rough for a long time but now I’m in crisis mode. My husband and I are about to lose our apartment. Last June, I was laid off from a job with great pay and we have been struggling extra-hard ever since. My husband’s medical and psychiatric issues keep him from working currently. He has arthritis, a bad knee, borderline personality disorder and severe depression and anxiety. I’m working seven days a week with two jobs and we’re still trying to catch up with bills. I thought we would have more time to make this month’s rent, but last night I came home to find this “pay or quit” notice on our door. That means we have to pay $1242 by 5 pm this next Monday, 3/10, or we’re evicted. We can’t afford to move. We did that a few years ago and it cost twice our rent to move a half-mile away. We only have a few hundred dollars in the bank right now. My husband is in the hospital. He doesn’t know. I don’t want him to know because he is emotionally very fragile now, and this would be a huge setback.

I don’t like to ask for help. That’s my nature. I have borrowed money from people in my life, reluctantly, and I can’t keep doing that. A few weeks ago I did something I didn’t want to do. I took out a web loan, and now every paycheck I lose $237 until it’s paid off. I can’t keep doing that. I take writing commissions but they are going very slowly because of my two jobs and because my husband needs a lot of care, and I’m also grasping with my own depression and my profound sense of failure. This Patreon helps a little and I appreciate all my subscribers. I wish there were more of you but y’all are the absolute best.
