The subway that runs through the station near my home has fewer and fewer trains each year due to low ridership.ποΈ
I understand that itβs inevitable, but I often canβt help feeling a bit sad about it.
The reason, I think, is the timing of my subway transfers. With the reduction in train frequency, I now constantly find myself just missing the connecting train as it pulls away right before my eyes.
Itβs not just that the waiting time has increasedβit almost feels as though the trains are mocking me. At the same time, I feel a bit silly about the idea of sprinting for a transfer.
Perhaps this is something that bothers me simply because Iβm Japanese. Japanese people are perhaps too used to trains that are perfectly on time, with no waiting required if youβre punctual.
I guess I need to allow myself more time, both in work and in travel!π
