Script finished and update

Hello everyone,

I got sick with covid the day I came back from siggraph so that was unfortunate and prevented me from doing any meaningful work for about a week and a half. I have finished the script for the next video about USD (Universal Scene Description) which I learned about during my week at siggraph and was asked kindly to make a video on by NVIDIA. It's of course my own thoughts and opinions so do not worry I am not a paid shill and if one thing all my old bosses agree on it's that I speak my mind a little too much.

That being said they did give me a 4090, which is now in my computer after some other new parts arrived. This opens up a lot of potential video topics and will make any future videos a bit more interesting as it's about 4x as powerful as my old gpu. No need to fear, I will still be mainly developing on the 1660 to ensure my shaders target the average user, but those shaders can be supercharged on the 4090 for fun (e.g. a 25 million particle sim on the 1660 could be 100 million on the 4090).

I will be at at PAX west next week, so the video will release before I leave earlier in the week. Please look forward to it!

Nvidia isn't an official direct sponsor they just want more creators to know about USD and for more resources to be made so they offered to fly me out to learn about it and also solved my hardware issue when I jokingly asked if they could so I'm making one video on the topic that way I don't feel indebted to the most valuable company in the world. I'm also incredibly cynical with them and whether or not they continue to want to work with me after I release my thoughts on the subject we'll see lol Regardless USD isn't an explicitly NVIDIA thing, it's all open source and is backed by like every tech company

In your honor, I will listen to Disturbed's "Down with the Sickness" on max volume! I hope you are feeling better! It's also great news that You are finally getting the big sponsorship deals which you deserve. I am, however, incredibly cynical when it comes to Nividia. Whenever one their incredibly smart engineers comes up with a cool new idea, there's a marketing team working day and night on making it a proprietary standard that cripples competition. Nividia's got a little bit of a track record (Cuda, PhysX, DLSS, ...)...

I hope you feel better! Take care of yourself and looking forward for the next video! Universal scene description sounds very exciting :)
