One Piece - I Am A Different Luffy! - Chapter 557 - Situation in the Cocoyasi Kingdom.

[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]
Third Person POV

Goa Kingdom.

...

...

It was no secret that in the Goa Kingdom it wasn’t the only nation having problems with the World Government. Several islands, mainly in East Blue, were surrounded by people openly cheering for the crew of the Dawn Pirates and even mocking the Government.

This infuriated any government agent scattered around, who heard opinions against the government, trying to arrest or even execute people to set an example.

Chaos took over many kingdoms, while some islands witnessed the terror of people dying in public squares under the pretext that they were betraying the World Government and colluding with the enemy, with execution becoming the new official punishment without any legal trial.

Something that led many to think that the World Government was desperate... desperate upon hearing Luffy’s name coming from the citizens’ mouths, desperate just by hearing a single name.

Little by little, people began to see how the World Government was acting. This led even further to retaliation from the people, with many starting to openly insult it, without fear, or even declaring that they would join the revolutionaries.

At this moment, since Luffy was not yet going directly against the Government, people began to see a different path: it would be through his father, which would later result in a final joint battle, with the Dawn Pirates and their allies, the revolutionaries, and even the new Navy, Sword.

The forces were becoming stronger and stronger on the side opposing the Government. This was a bad sign for the bureaucrats and those who control the world, but, at the same time that many were beginning to revolt and suffering from the retaliations, with many rulers helping the government, some countries remained firm and almost openly declared their position against it. This could be said of the main kingdoms where the members of the Dawn Pirates had originated.

The Cocoyasi Kingdom prevented any execution carried out in public squares in the last hours, just as Queen Makino had acted in Goa. While there were heavily armed soldiers with Wapol Metal weapons provided by Luffy, many members within the kingdom were also skilled in the six common styles, having trained in Skypiea for a year.

They quickly acted, defeating the agents in attempts of public executions, while the people protested until they were saved, and everyone thanked the men of the kingdom for acting against the government.

"Another execution?! Those damned bandits! Can’t they see we’re eliminating all those idiots?!" the ruler Ganzo slammed against his table, irritated, when he received yet another report of another execution being carried out in the former Cocoyasi village, which was the heart of the kingdom when it was still just a common island with a village.

Most of the villagers from the village had moved to the great port, known as the capital of the kingdom, created after the battle between Garuda and Ifrit two years ago, which resulted in a great direct canal to the sea.

"We can't let this continue! And there are those fools..." the ruler exclaimed, speaking directly to a group of seven people in front of him. They were all men and women of the kingdom's royal guard, although they were not actually guarding those they should — the two queens — since they were traveling with Luffy, sailing on his journey.

All seven knights nodded upon hearing this from the ruler and quickly their forces disappeared. In the next moment, they were flying through the air using Geppō, heading to the other side of the island.

"Damn it! The Government is being more of a plague than ever... This is all desperation." Ganzo couldn’t help but murmur, still in the room, a little frustrated.

"I know you’re frustrated because you don’t have time to read your little book, aren’t you?" a woman beside him said. She was his secretary.

"Don’t talk nonsense." the man muttered, a little embarrassed.

As she laughed softly, she added, "There’s no reason to be embarrassed, Governor Ganzo. I feel like you want to be a great grandfather."

"That’s not it at all!" the man exclaimed, still embarrassed. The secretary shook her head, realizing he simply didn’t want to accept the truth.

Ganzo then picked up his book again, titled How to Raise Healthy Babies.

The woman just watched him go back to reading, while next to the office there was a room full of baby things. Ever since he learned the news that Nojiko was pregnant, he seemed helpful with the idea of a child living there — if he would really do that, which the secretary highly doubted. To her, he was exaggerating.

Ganzo himself read the book attentively, with caution, observing the explanations about how the baby would react when hungry or sleepy, how he should treat it, how he should hold it, and what the signs were when it was sick. He quickly took notes, making small scribbles in the book to clearly mark what he should do.

"I’m doing this for you, Bell-mère... to take care of your granddaughter." Ganzo murmured.

"How do you know it’s a girl?" the secretary beside him suddenly asked with a curious and amused look.

"Grandfather’s intuition." was what he replied, snorting.

"Soon, I will be the grandfather of a great princess. Then I can finally retire." He spoke with a certain relief, for since he had taken on managing all the money Monkey D. Luffy had given along with the plans to create this kingdom, he had not rested a moment. Being a governor was far more exhausting than dealing with the life of a mayor.

He only hoped he could retire as soon as Nami and Nojiko returned to the kingdom.

While Ganzo dreamed of his retirement, the former Cocoyasi village was no longer a simple village. Now there were mansions, hotels, resorts, shops, and taverns of all kinds.

Even though it was not the capital of the kingdom, the village had become the most important city in the east of the Cocoyasi Kingdom. Many of the citizens who stayed experienced a great change in life, with more work, money, and goods coming in due to the large port. So it was easy to transform a simple village into a city, and many people who immigrated to this kingdom chose not to live directly in the capital, due to the heavy movement of the port, opting to stay in the village with the other former residents.

Once again, people were gathered around a square in the middle of the city, while a speaking platform had been set up by the Government agents. A couple was imprisoned, waiting to be killed by the agents, who were giving speeches to the population.

"How dare they speak ill of the Government? They will be executed for treason!" declared a man in a black suit and hat, with a mafia-like appearance.

"Screw the Government! You are nothing!" the man exclaimed.

"It’s true! Nami won’t let you live after this… She will avenge us!" the woman said with conviction. Despite the imminent death, she seemed firm in her decisions and did not back down. They were former residents and were not afraid to die, only hoping that Nami would make a move to avenge their deaths later.

"You dare, woman?! You are speaking to the World Government! So be it! See what happens to fools like you, who think they can challenge and shout in favor of the enemies of the World Government!" the man in the suit declared, full of rage.

"Let her go, you idiots! The World Government will be destroyed by Straw Hat… I mean, by the Dawn Pirates!"

"Yes! We know Nami! And it was the Straw Hats who saved us from Arlong! Unlike you, they transformed this kingdom into what it is today, while you let us be enslaved when Arlong was alive! Neither the Government nor the Marines did anything when we were in that situation!" a man began shouting to the crowd, making the man in the suit immediately turn his gaze, searching for the origin of the voice.

"Who dares to say that?!" he said.

"It was me who said it!" someone pointed out, raising their hand from the other side of the crowd.

"Arrest that bastard and bring him here to be executed!" said the man in the suit.

"It wasn’t him, it was me who said it! The World Government will fail, and you will be killed and destroyed!" another person declared, making the agent grit his teeth even more at the boldness of that population.

"Death to the World Government! Death to the Tenryuubito!" another shouted.

"Who said that? Bring them to me!" the man shouted once again, while more and more people began to offend and raise their hands. It didn’t take long for the entire crowd to start insulting the World Government in such a way that, if those agents reported what they heard, they would end up dead to prevent such information from leaking.

"You dare?! I will activate a Buster Call! This entire island will be sunk, and all of you killed!" the man shouted, at the peak of his rage.

"Oh yeah? And how are you going to do that, since you’ll be dead soon?" a voice came from behind him. The man quickly turned, along with the agents, pointing their weapons at seven people who had appeared, while the entire population went silent at that moment, upon seeing the Queens’ Knights appear.

"It’s them!" someone exclaimed.

"Expel those bastards from the island! They are not welcome! No Government agent should ever set foot in the Cocoyasi Kingdom again!" another person shouted from the crowd.

"You dare threaten us along with the population, you fools?! Soon, this island will sink!" the Government agent exclaimed angrily. But before he could react, he didn’t even have time to feel his head being removed from his neck, with a swift sword movement from one of the Queens’ Knights.

Blood gushed out and the man fell, while everything went silent. The other agents were paralyzed, as they did not expect anyone to attack them so easily when they were government agents, but they also seemed not to have noticed what was happening around the island, where other agents were being executed or taken to prison.

"Wait! Do you have any idea what you’ve done?!" one of them said, looking at the dead chief.

"Of course I do. Don’t worry, you’ll be joining him soon." said another knight, advancing.

The agents realized they were not joking. "Wait! What are you doing?! We are from the Government! Don’t attack us!" But, seeing that nothing they said was working, fear took hold of them.

"Wait! No! We’ll leave! Don’t kill us! We’re just following orders!" one agent pleaded.

But it was already too late. Quickly, all seven Knights acted, executing those men in cold blood. Despite the bloody scene, people celebrated as the couple was freed.

"The World Government will not triumph in Cocoyasi! If they want to make us enemies, then so be it!" said one of the knights, essentially declaring war, in the hope that the Dawn Pirates could protect them.

There wasn’t much to be done: either they acted, or they would be retaliated against by the Government, which would take the island little by little. The kingdom should not fall into the Government’s hands as they were doing in many places around the world at that moment, so Luffy had already given the order to retaliate as soon as he heard what happened in the Goa Kingdom through the den den mushi on his secret radio.
