He's a 'D'. He's what you call a 'foil' in writing terms. A character very similar to the main character but with crucial differences - often times in an antagonistic position. He's just as free spirited, carefree and bold/confident as Luffy. He's a dreamer like Luffy. He's EXTREMELY strong. And he's rising quickly like Luffy. Runs with a small group of distinct and (in his opinion) reliable guys - just like Luffy. He's displaying many characteristics that the 'D's share and it makes perfect sense for Luffy's foil to be a 'D'. There isn't anything that would suggest that he wasn't a 'D'. But more importantly: "D" doesn't give you clout... When have people, in general, ever reacted to Luffy with "OMG he's a 'D'!!!"? Never. Most people also don't know that Roger was a 'D'. They just know him as Gold Roger. We've seen people react to Ace but he's got clout because he's a Division Commander of Whitebeard's Crew - not because he's a 'D'. No one's ever mentioned that. Same with Blackbeard. Ace didn't go after Blackbeard because he is a 'D' Shanks didn't tell Whitebeard to stop Ace going after Blackbeard because he's a 'D' The Government didn't appoint him to Warlord status because he's a 'D' Until now, he hasn't benefited at all from being a 'D'. Not one bit.

Is it just me, or does black beard seem like the type of dude to lie about being a D. Like it’s a lot of lore and things we don’t know about “the name of D” but i don’t think that nigga black beard one of em, he just want the clout that come behind the name, whatever that could be.
