Jose and Panchito have made other appearances in Disney media that I think both of you should know about and might actually blow your minds. In a show that you covered before on the podcast, House of Mouse, both Jose and Panchito have made guest appearances as the musical guests of the evening. In their second appearance on the show The Three Caballeros sing a song about Panchito's full name, Panchito Romero Miguel Junipero Francisco Quintero González. Wander Over Yonder is fantastic. Probably my favorite of all the Craig McCraken's shows. The first season is largely episodic but the second season mixes it up with a larger story arc sprinkled in with the one off adventures. Apparently, McCraken wanted to do a show with through line narrative but Disney pushed back because "kids can't follow that". All the while Gravity Falls was exploding in popularity. Disney must has some weird deal with every show from this that wasn't Gravity Falls. Currently Wander Over Yonder is not on Disney+. It wasn't on any streaming service until the beginning of December when they dumped it onto Hulu along with four other Disney XD shows.

My daughter and I really liked this show (she's 13), so it's a bummer to see it go. At least we still have season 3 to see (I swear I didn't mean to rhyme the whole time).

I have enjoyed this show quite a bit since its premiere. I really hoped it would be something both my kids and I could enjoy, but it turns out it mostly appeals to 30-somethings (maybe that's why the toys bombed and the show was cancelled?) as they never really got into it. They will still watch it with me, but not with great enthusiasm. I did at least condition them to love the theme song and I have an adorable video of my kids from when they were quite young (2 and 1) reacting to the song. I was watching the series premiere where the song is inserted into the middle. They're both playing with their toys, but once the first note of that song hits they both drop their toys, turn to the TV, and commence with the dancing. Alan Young voiced Scrooge after Ducktales Remastered. His final appearances were in the Paul Rudish Mickey Mouse cartoons as Scrooge. He unfortunately passed away before the Christmas special was recorded. Tony Anselmo, whom my interactions with have been shared in this space before, talked to me about the casting process on this show. He had to audition, and "they" (he does not specify) wanted to go in a different direction initially. He didn't clarify if they wanted to give Donald a "normal" voice or get someone else to do a different duck voice. It caused enough of a storm though that the decision made it to the desk of Bob Iger who squashed the idea of recasting Anselmo. I don't know why he put his foot down here, but not with the preschool show Mickey and the Roadster Racers, which cast Daniel Ross as Donald Duck. That show even got to do a Three Caballeros reunion before this one, though it's not worth watching. I'll always be a Donald Duck purist though. I genuinely do not find Anselmo's Donald hard to understand. Clarence Nash can be hard, but Anselmo is really good at enunciating with that gaseous voice. I still prefer Nash, because that's what I grew up with, but I like Anselmo's and I hope when he's ready to retire another actor comes along doing a duck voice.

I love this show, as a mid-30s Disney Afternoon obsessed millenial it absolutely feels custom tailored for my tastes. The casting on this show is universally great but one guest appearance worth calling out is in the episode Last Christmas they had the great Russi Taylor play a young Donald Duck using her Huey/Dewey/Louie voice. IMO a very inspired and fun choice, made bittersweet by the fact that it was her last role before her passing in 2019 (unless you want to count Kingdom Hearts III, which I do not).

I really love this show. People talked about it being Venture Bros. but for kids with how it develops characters and builds its world, so I suppose it only makes sense that it also got cancelled in 2020. I hope Bob saw the Bonkers cameo in the dark wing duck episode!

Since no one else has mentioned it, yes, Gladstone Gander was indeed in the original DuckTales show, played by legendary voice actor Rob Paulsen. That said, and nothing against Rob whom I greatly admire, but Paul F Tompkins killed it in the role. They even got Djinn right with the voice of Omid Abtahi, unlike the questionable character from the original. Is it unreasonable that I was emotionally affected by the Rescue Rangers cameo and theme song? Yeah, probably.

Just gonna throw out a comment about The Three Caballeros for one second. The lyric in the song that caught me off-guard the most was "And pals though we may be, when some latin baby, says yes, no or maybe-" and I had to reel back and go "EXCUSE ME WHAT *IF* SHE SAYS NO? THAT'S WHERE THE CONVERSATION ENDS RIGHT!?" the 40's were messed up...

Alan Young is legitimately Scottish, his parents were Scottish, lived in Edinburgh, and they moved to Canada when he was six. If anything I remember David Tenant's casting making a lot of people go "Wait a minute, he's not Scottish!" only for them to learn that they were wrong because they only knew him from suppressing his accent on Doctor Who. Young suppressed his accent a lot too, he talked about it in interviews over the years. Though he was playing it up as Scrooge McDuck his natural speaking voice in interviews is fairly Scottish. To stay relevant to DT2017, this series was a breath of fresh air and it's too bad it was cut down before its time. I actually like a lot of the new directions they took the characters, and while they may be different, that doesn't necessarily make them bad. To be rigidly inflexible to one interpretation is to be like Don Rosa—a brilliant writer and artist whose work I love, but has turned into a curmudgeonly old goof who thinks they control the only interpretation of a character. There's room in the world for various takes.
