Question Time!

Since we’re back into the mix for Growing Rivalry, time for some input from you guys.

There will be some new locations coming up (since it’s cramped and I need to spread the girls out more)

So with new locations comes new people and potentially new side bits.


One thing I have seen demand for was a shop (not the card shop) that sold things.


What kind of different shops would you like to see?

(Within reason of course :p - no, an instant kill card is not within reason!)

Well. Problem with that is, only after celestia is beaten could they come back. Cause well…. You know….. An arena is a cool idea. Would have to plan it meticulously though. That’s bound to cause bugs 😂

Having opponents come back would be a nice surprise, like a second wind in an all-out mod where it's all or nothing. Also having an arena fight booker would be interesting, like the casino you bet on who win or you can participate for a reward of your choice.

Throwing my two cents in, not sure if other people have said this. Something like consumable items that have effects in battle like healing HP/MP, or drawing cards, dealing damage etc. Or something like what slay the spire has with relics that just have passive effects like extra card draw and discard or extra MP every 3rd turn, maybe take it a step further and have each main character growth type have a unique starting relic i.e. the WG one gains 1 HP every X cards played, or GTS deals 1 extra damage for every 100 height over the opponent

Also a battle royale event would be kind of cool where the losers would be consumed if a threshold was met where the two contestants size difference was too big and it would show them growing with dialogue of them getting a huge spurt.

I'd like to see those random event characters you find in the alley to have a shot to win the tournament if they grow large enough from encounters. It'd be interesting mix starting from the bottom and becoming the queen! I'd also like the option to submit and be dominated without having to fight the contestants so I can donate height to them at a chosen interval to help them succeed.

maybe a walkthrough with what level they get a new stage unlock in the cg (miss a stage and it becomes annoying to find out later) and where the other characters are or how to upgrade them. but just more art for the cards. maybe some based on type of evolution they go through, like boob cards as a "tribe/build" or giantess, ect. that would be awesome

1. Card drops are relatively simple. I actually did go along the lines of creating some unique “character cards”. I have an idea of how I want them in the game too (just have to wait a little longer though) 2. No, same as earlier comments, “skins” require so many additional pictures. It’s not overly feasible and hard to keep the images consistent enough over that many. But, the multiple wins would tie in with the special card. Unlocks as you beat them more and more. 3. Yup, stuff like that is quite simple to do. Potentially might be able to visually represent it too. 4. Nooooo, no more characters 😂😂😂 but I might add more of it in through side events and such. 5. A shrine is already planned, but for a different use. (You’ll just to wait and see for that one :p)

Couple different ideas piggy backing off of a few suggestions I saw already. 1.) I saw people mention consumables to be used before battle, and then someone else mentioned stealing cards after beating an opponent, adding an expensive item that could be used before a battle to 'steal' part of an opponent's essence (A.k.a a single 'signature' card per contestant) if you beat them would be fun, or another alternative option would be allowing you to use this kind of item on an ally that you've properly made submit. 2.) This isn't necessarily an item/store idea but one that I thought would be a fun inclusion to the game, if you manage to win the game on a certain MC type, you could unlock an alternate skin to use on character selection. This could technically be expanded (if you found a fun design that you wanted to play around with but couldn't justify otherwise) to incentivize winning more than just one time on a specific character to unlock other variations that you may have stumbled on. 3.)I've seen other people mention accessories and clothes already, but another alternate option to expand on card store options, and add a bit more thematic flavor would be deck boxes, each one essentially functioning like an accessory that could just give a simple passive benefit like HP regen, one extra draw per turn, giving you an optional discard per turn, things of that nature that would lend themselves to certain deck archetypes and just be a bit more thematic towards the card game aspect of things. 4.) I'm just throwing this one in here because i'm biased and miss it from your earlier projects but vore character >:D 5.) Another idea for a location would be a temple or a shrine of some sort that allows you to sacrifice height to the goddess that blessed the city to increase the amount of passive height you're rewarded with at the end of each day for surviving the contest. Alternatively or in addition to, you could add a dark shrine that would allow you to donate height and it would select an opponent at random and siphon height from them each night (would also allow for a separate cultist entity that would defend it/be a contestant later that upon defeat from the competition would allow unfettered access to the shrine) Still trying to cook up more ideas to suggest so might make replies :D

I would like to see kind of a all or nothing shop. A place where you can bet all your growth and try an bet you opponents for theirs

Maybe adding somewhat black market so you can hire an assassin on someone costing your own height or size theft certain NPC or get some other stats temporary boost items,like in resident evil 4 shop keeper that sells your rare trinkents and such

A clothing store. Different outfits for MC with shredded variations for when you get too big for them. Lots of potential scenes here in the store and if you make it a department store it could also sell a lot of the other items that were previously suggested as well.

Not sure how feasible it would be, but an idea for an item, at least, that might be useful is one that could be used in battle to remove an ability of theirs. I avoid certain people just because some of their abilities are annoying or impossible to combat with my current decks, meaning they're free to slurp up size elsewhere and become even more of a menace when I'm forced to fight them. If there were items that could take out even one of those from the fight, that would be wonderful. You could even cater them specifically so there's an item for each ability that you want to allow to be negated. Of course, it would be only for the duration of the battle and probably only one per battle- don't want to just make them unable to attack at all. Oh, and, maybe an interesting trade off is that using it gives them a portion of the wager, meaning that if you still lose while using it, it's an even bigger loss.

Something I loved was the Ivelise growing stuff in the cassino (Even I didn't delete that version of the game) Could be possible that growing stuff with another character?

Both of these ideas are fine. But an insane amount of work unfortunately. The first would require writing and making up multiple entries for each character x all the personality changes. (Say 5 personality types x 35 characters…) The next one is a similar answer to the transform one. Requires far too many images to warrant. Since you would need 10 images x 35 characters x 6 ( for each body type) - I know you said max size, but then when they drop back down, logically, they would retain that type.

A second idea would be to allow for an item that changes a characters body type once at max size

I think my best idea would be an item which can change the personality of the flavour text of a character. If you could make someone more dominant or less overbearing, or make something happen that they wouldn’t do.

Problem is you can’t necessarily be in control of who you eliminate. Since they could be eliminated by others and you “helped”. Unfortunately, far too difficult to track. Potentially special cards when X number of characters eliminated.

Card upgrades are exceedingly tricky unfortunately and would essentially triple the card count (since I’d have to copy paste the “upgraded” forms as new skills, then get new art for them and change it up) But yes, not all of them will be fun like aria. Some will be demanding, some lazy. Etc

I did think about some basic consumables. You can access the item menu normally, so it wouldn’t require much (most likely adding buffs to HP, regen etc on turn 1 would be main features)

At that point I may as well make logic for all non-standard characters to become allies. The boost in “relationship points” is a good one though.

1) An item that would help out on the ally system. Accelerate the alliance offer or give them a small boost so they can potentially win a bit more often. Or that item would be required to make alliance with certain npc that cannot be allies at first, like Melanie or Isabelle? 2) Expand on Lilith and have those items at her shop. After you buy enough stuff or 1 specific item, she becomes a contestant. She would have similar abilities as to her first boss encounter. Just food for though for this one :p

To throw my hat in the ring, I'd like to see some consumable items. For instance, before a match starts, you would be asked if you'd like to use a certain item (only one allowed per battle), and this item could be something as simple as starting with an extra card, or as strong as having a 5hp regen per turn. The shop itself would get better items the more items you bought, and the bigger the shopkeep becomes.

I like the idea for having a shop centered around different passive skills! I do also like when the NPCs make Faustian bargains with the player. To expand on that, maybe some of the more powerful passive skills can be 'forbidden skills' that have drawbacks which favor the shopkeeper: Like a passive that prevents you from dying the first time you hit 0 HP, but as a result the shop keeper receives height from you at the end of the day as a price for each time you activated the forbidden power. I also think an upgrade shop would be interesting. For a high price the shop keeper would upgrade the "level" of the card. For Example: a default version of the card(s) does 4 damage; upgrading the card to level 2 (adding a silver border) would from then on add +1 to the card(s) for 5 damage; a final upgrade to gold would give the card(s) 6 damage. Finally, just to give some of the shopkeepers more personality, they could have different attitudes as they grow. Right now the card shopkeeper gives a discount once you spend enough. Maybe there could be a shopkeeper that does the opposite: raising their prices based on how much bigger they are than you, unless you can beat them in a fight.

I was thinking something like a black market or something like that, since the others can hire assassins to attack you or steal height, maybe you could add this for the player as well. There could be a NPC that has a chance to appear in the back alley at night. Maybe a fee to enter like the cultist island. Also, on a side note, having the choice of giving or asking for height with your ally would be perfect for getting other endings, I mean the girls can randomly give you height saying that they want you to win, why not have it the other way around too, right?

A College or University campus would work well for a practice zone. The Campus would have a fancy area similar to the Yu-Gi-Oh area from the first few episodes. Campus Labs to research the goddess gift and a Chapel to pray to the goddess for bonuses. Could reuse the Library location for something on campus related. EDIT: A sewer system found via the back-alley for a Slime based card deck.

You could maybe make a trinket or accessories Shop too give small boost for the fight that we can upgrade with some quest or things like that like draw 1 more card at the start of the fight or maybe 10 hp boost ect.

I agree with a store that lets me trade common cards for rare ones from my set. I also would like the idea of the restaurant where you can invite characters (maybe not just allies) to allow them to grow without the combat. Different meal sizes you can buy that give more growth depending on the price?

Card specific shops. Similar to how Gambler cards are only sold by the Casino Mistress. For example, the Fairy and Dark Fairy cards could be sold by a set of twins who embody the light/dark dichotomy. The Demon/Succubus cards could be sold by a very curvaceous demon. Gladiator sold by an Amazon. So on and so forth.

I think that cards theme after some other elements that allow the player to inflic new debufs something like an electrical discharge that takes half of the action points, or decreases the damages by 30% or something like that

I did play around with allies being in fights. Problem is that it makes the game far too easy. And balancing is hard enough as it is :P Those items are very tricky to code in. I’ll see what I can do though…. :p You just wanna make me wrack my brains and figure it out :P But I’ll see what I can come up with 😂

How about if you have an ally they help you in your fights. I also like the idea that you can improve you ally's fighting strength, meaning they don't lose to other players, but then you must be able to ally with all of them not just some of them. As for a shop, I'd like one that sell items that improves your odds or deck. Example Buy an armor - all damage you receive is halved or Buy an undead crown - all undead cards attack twice. Buy "queen's decree" - Enemy can only attack every two rounds. Buy Voodoo scepter - Enemy can't heal. And finally I'm still hoping for more cards that carry damage effects to opponents health by a %, like the wizard zombie card or the necrotic touch from the succubus deck. I think bleeding and burning should also do more damage. Like if you or opp is bleeding every round you don't receive healing the damage goes up.

All doable. I like the idea of bringing your ally with you to the restaurant. I could potentially make it so random girls appear there from time to time. Bonuses might be trickier, but I think just giving them a buff before the battle is very doable.

I think something that could be cool would be more non-card items aside from HP boosts? Either small passive boosts (+2 mana on turn 1 for example) or one-time usable items (like a one-time height drainer for example) Other than that, maybe a beauty contest accessible through the beach where you can win prizes based on your height compared to other characters? Also maybe something to do with allies? Someone else suggested a restaurant, perhaps you could bring them here and give *them* bonuses?

I can use the practice match system you can do with allies for a practice hall. Trading is a bit tougher. But might add misc NPC’s that appear randomly when searching that offer trades for cards

I did dabble in potential starter decks with a price you can grab early (or ignore and not buy them at all) And I can just move the ally practice match logic over to make a “testing hall” for a few ofc…. Virtual simulators cost money :p

the drop system suits me (even if it's frustrating not to have what you want) but can be a place to test your deck without necessarily starting a fight Or just a place to get a particular legendary with a price of around 250 or 300, or a fight. the A.E.R.A deck seemed interesting to me but I had to overuse the save to get it after about 15 tries.

I would appreciate either a place to sell card copies or maybe convert large numbers of low rarity cards into higher rarity cards. Would it also be possible to have a place to pick up starter decks, Pre-built decks that are fairly low strength but a good jumping off point to build on/ a good way of trying out a decks core strategy (Hand in hand with this would be a place for testing decks out without consequence).

Hm, I think that might be something for the next major patch (since summoning creatures will be coming. And summoning beasts could fit into that well. Spend height to summon creatures. More you spend, stronger the creature etc)

Hm, I do like this too :D although more of a “secret” shop rather than a normal one. Cause assassins don’t exactly sit out in broad daylight :P But I like this idea. May tweak it slightly ;)

If there’s one thing I would really want it to stop receiving a specific card after I already have a full set. I primarily use Gladiator and find it annoying that I can end up with 7 copies of a card, when I can only use 3 in the deck. Especially when I’m trying to fill out my card catalog. Other than that, I’d love for the casino girls to grow. Obviously Valeria and Casino owner (forgot name) gain height from your gambling, but it’d be nice to give the other girls more sizes as well. Because honestly, the only game I play is Blackjack, and I think this would encourage the player to experience other games.

Maybe not a shop, but what about some event where the MC gets roped into downloading some kind of app on her phone. Every night as she's asleep it takes a small amount of height from her. Then you could have a few different ways the MC would find out she's losing height. Which then leads the MC to go confront whoever got them to download the app.

I suggest, an Assassin shop. You see sometimes a girl may win a lot in one turn that make her grow too huge in early stage. She will probably be a snowball draining other NPC too quickly, and player almost can't stop it because player can only challenge one character one time in a day. That may cause some NPC(especially those player love but still not teammate) getting eliminate fast. So here comes the Assassin shop. Player can cost heights to hire different rank of Assassin, and send them to attack one character every night. The higher the rank, more chance to success. If the assassin success, she will steal her heights and transport to the player and Assassin Master. And all heights spent in shop will go to Assassin Master. If player spend too much heights in Assassin shop, the Master will come assassinate the player. That will be a secrect event.

The Beast based deck could center around a resource the deck gives you that gives cards more effects if you have the resource to spend while granting you bonus size or damage based on the size difference of the enemy and player since beast based characters are in the game with about 2ish characters but there should be a facility that specifically let's you challenge specific people for increase wager

I can do something that offers a one time bonus. Card modifiers are hard because outside of damage, can’t really edit much. But can go along the lines of starting with a state, bonuses to hp and mp with perhaps downsides or high costs

I did think about different card stores. But didn’t have enough sets. In future perhaps when there’s more cards, having more locations to buy cards (with certain ones having specific packs is a good idea)

I like the idea of the clothes, but generating another couple hundred images to match the mc’s will be hard (and have them look vaguely what they already look like….) The buff to certain sets is cool though. Do like that.

How about clothing store, and different clothes going to upgrade some card sets(for example sport set boosts gladiator set damage overall). If you’ll have time you can even change MC appearance depending on what girl wears, but I know it’s a lot of generation through.

Like it being a card game, maybe some rival shops to compete in pricing. And that shops costs go to a rival being. The shops can have the same packs or different ones. Maybe rare cards.

Maybe you can add a shop that sells helpful or card modifying items that have a certain penalty for using them or they just have a limited use and upon breaking give battle-limited buffs or nasty side-effects(buffs and side-effects not fixed, but everytime randomly cycled) .

I’ve got a item in mind, how about a an item that activates once you defeat the same opponent enough time, allows you the choice to take them out of the competition with you taking their size, a certain percentage of their own hp & all the cards they use on their deck (can only be bought and used once with how powerful it’s and cost 1000 cms). Edit: also a location in mind how about a open Sumo area a for those WG Rivals

Perhaps a restaurant of some kind, where the differing foods can modify things like health or mana independent of size, or provide temporary health/mana buffs?
