100% you guys HAVE to see Ready Player One after seeing the Matrix series. It has a song by Rush, it's part real world / part virtual, similar to The Matrix...and it has a TON of Easter Eggs and cameos by video game or movie characters you won't be expecting.

LOVED THIS REACTION!!!
A few really cool points i don't think were mentioned.
- The book NEO grabbed in his apartment at the beginning had to do with the simulation theory. Inside the book was hollowed out so it can hold floppy discs, a cool way of saying humanity has lost to technology.
- GOD and JESUS were mentioned MULTIPLE times throughout the film.
- There were biblical numbers throughout the film as well.
- Every scene that has the GREEN TINT means they are JACKED IN to the simulation.
- NEO is ONE rearranged
There is literally so much detail in this, essays have been written on it.
Another GREAT reaction you 2!!
I better see a MATRIX poster behind y'all on that wall soon!!!

I definitely recommend you guys keep going with the series because the story gets even deeper into the function of the Matrix. For awhile it was a trilogy but sometime last year or in 2021 they released a new Matrix film. That one wasn't as good as the original three in my opinion though.

2023-02-27 22:05:00 +0000 UTC
Oh and for the last part y'all were talking about. It was an EMP. Electromagnetic pulse. Because it kills all electronics within it's range. Which is why they had to wait for Neo to get out before they unplugged him because it was all electrical. And have y'all ever seem Ready Player 1? The matrix is similar to that. Imagine putting a VR on and having an open world video game, but that video game is realistic, kinda thing. So when they "jack-in" to the matrix, it's similar to putting the VR headset on and going into a virtual world.

Yeah, it was that generation's Terminator 2. It's a great film. Unfortunately, they couldn't let the series end here and went on to make mediocre sequels which got progressively worst... Not bad action-wise if that's what you like, but not as good storytelling as the first.

I haven’t read anybody else’s comments yet, so I don’t know what people have told you so here goes. That switch at the end that they turned to kill the sentinels set off an EMP blast. That’s an electromagnetic pulse blast. It kills anything electrical. This movie was so incredible when it came out and a movie on this level had never been done before. Everybody was so excited for this movie. I saw it five times in the theater. You think the fast and furious movies cause excitement? They don’t have anything on when the first matrix came out. Also, there are two other Keanu Reeves movies you need to watch. Speed and what I believe is his best movie point break.

The effects in this movie were new to us back in the day. I was 20 y/o at the time and I think my friends and I saw this a few times in the theater because we liked it so much. But those effects—running up on walls, etc—were super popular at the time. You saw them in Kill Bill as well. I love that it is as entertaining for you as it was for us, even if it isn’t new anymore.
Since you’re starting Lord of the Rings as well, you might notice that the actor, Hugo Weaving, who played Agent Smith in this movie (bad guy with the suit and sunglasses) also later played Elrond (the elf king) in LOTR. My friends and I thought it was a weird casting choice when we saw Fellowship of the Ring, but we all eventually thought it was a good fit. He plays both characters so well.
I’m one of the few people who has never seen John Wick, and I love Keanu Reeves, so I’m excited to check it out with you guys!

This series means so much to me, I'm so glad you enjoyed the first movie!
Back when I was a film student this was a fascinating movie to watch over and over to examine both the technical innovations as well as the underlying meanings of the story. I find the story enjoyable on so many levels; on the surface it's an incredibly fun action movie that was ahead of its time, philosophically it intrigues the viewer and encourages you to think about the human experience and moving beyond the limitations set by society, then at the lowest level I personally deeply love its connections an allegory for the LGBT experience (lookup what the Wachowski siblings have to say to learn more).
The following two films had some problems with pacing and ended up alienating some viewers, but I definitely feel they're worth a watch. The final film in the series which came out only two years ago is very divisive among fans of the first movie. Your enjoyment of the fourth film will probably depend on how well you connect with the original trilogy. I personally love all four films and cannot recommend them highly enough. I hope you give them all a shot! ❤️

Some people literally think the Matrix is real. Its such a good movie though, the acting is so good but the effects for the time? Over 20 years ago is insane. The fight scenes too. And every guy had a Trinity crush lol. And Morpheus is a GOAT! He never wavered from believing in Neo being the one. Laurence Fishburn's acting in this is perfection. No-one expected this at the time, it blew and even now blows, people away how good it is. You guys need to watch (I hope) at one point Bill and Ted's excellent adventure. It's Keanu and night and day comparing the two but a good comedy lol great reaction, the one liners creased me! Be wary of bald headed Todd's after this and El Camino iirc jk lol

The first movie was interesting, borderline good, certainly great for it's time. However, the 2nd movie (to me) had me on the machines side (the rave scene, spoilers) had me full misanthrope, lazy writing ect ect. I will like your reactions just because, regardless... even if the movie sucks (to me) Bad Boys 1983 please or Fresh 1994 pretty please, neither of them are losers as far as movies go & very much relatable to my up bringing & mistakes I made as a youngster. Put those to a vote & those who have seen those movies will back me up & those who haven't will never forget that they saw it here with you first. You owe it to yourself just to see Samuel L Jackson, Giancarlo Esposito (gus from breaking bad) in fresh. Sean penn , Clancy Brown (the head guard in shawshank) & Eric Gurry as Horowhiz in bad boys (1983) not fresh princess of cuckold. Bad lieutenant & any of the Abel Farrah movies starting Ms. 45 were awesome (king of new york slipped my mind on the top 5 movie question) the real Frank White B(big poppa) J. I'm broke but, want to show my love for y'all even for a month or two. Still thumbs up and shit talk on the yt streams Fam. FOE

This movie really makes you think about what's real. How does anyone know what they see, hear, touch, smell, taste, etc. is actually real? Maybe everything that we think is real is just a figment of our own self-contained imaginations. Maybe we are all just blind to the real truth, and like Neo at the beginning of this movie, are still hooked up to a giant Matrix, just waiting to be unplugged... when you see another "deja vu" moment in your own lives, you should wonder, is that really just a coincidental chance encounter with a similar experience, or is it really a glitch in the Matrix that we all live in?

Well, you know what you have to do next... is watch Matrix 2! Anyway, this movie is a warning to us - why we let Google and Apple take over our lives, self driving cars, smartphones, chatGPT - - this is how we lost the battle against the machines. We truly need to be scared of AI!

Remember, this movie came out in 1999 and it was groundbreaking. People went to see this movie and they had never been in it and I seen anything like it before. This movie basically changed how action movies were made.
Keanu’s stunt double for this movie is one of the directors for the John Wick movies.
So when they woke Neo up from The Matrix, he found himself in that pod with the fluid and that’s when he saw all the other people still in their pods who are obliviously living in the Matrix. That’s why they said he’d never used his eyes or muscles before. Again, he’s just been in the pod his entire feeding the machines.
Tara
2023-02-26 04:29:55 +0000 UTC
The weapon at the end was an electromagnetic pulse. It disables any machine in the blast area. They had to wait for Neo because if they did it while he was still in the Matrix, it would have been the same as when Cypher unplugged Switch and Apoc. So at the end, the EMP essentially "killed" the sentinels.

I'm sure by now you've heard this but the world was destroyed a long time ago between a war of the AI robots and humans. Humans took away their energy source the Sun robots won the war started to grow humans and put them in this fake hibernation with all the tubes and goo because humans generate heat which they need and humans generate electricity your body your brain does that in reality. I think we are in The Matrix, lol, we are being used as batteries to fuel the AI machines that make a matrix so that we live out our crappy lives and die and a replace by other humans grown in the field.. totally logical.. LOL

Here's some stuff you may have missed after watching...
They mention the battery bit really early when Mr. Anderson meets them at the bridge, and Switch pulls the gun on him. She calls him "Coppertop", referring to a Duracell battery.
You caught the whole "Alice in Wonderland" (including the white rabbit), but the guy who comes to Mr. Anderson's door says "You're my savior, my own personal Jesus Christ." Mr. Anderson's hacker name is NEO, which is an anagram of ONE.
The Oracle said "You're not the One", but then just before she gives him the cookie, she off-handedly says: "Maybe in your NEXT LIFE, who knows?"
So like Jesus, he had to die and be resurrected to be in his "next life", where he truly was The One.
Another awesome reaction, I haven't seen The Matrix in many years, but this was a great showing with you guys 😎

2023-02-26 02:14:46 +0000 UTC
It's a bit of a shame that the original storyline that made more sense didn't get greenlit by the studio. Originally, people hooked up to the matrix were being used as a sort of compute cluster (using brains to do whatever the machines needed)...but someone thought that it would be better to say that they're batteries for the duracell product placement (and apparently because they didn't think people would understand that detail). Always bothered me a bit when it came out because I get stuck on plot details a good amount of the time while watching things; the human body would never be able to go into the black in terms of electric generation...and after the sun gets blacked out by the humans, why wouldn't the machines just use fusion/fission energy generation that was readily available?
The sequels are...worth watching once, but you can definitely skip the new one. As mentioned, The Animatrix is also an interesting watch as it's several animated vignettes providing some lore. The animation itself is beautiful as well.
If you're interested in going deeper down the rabbit hole, so to speak, you can read into The Invisibles comics that the entirety of the movie was lifted from. "Allegedly".
