So then, the lie.
Nikiru reached their house thoroughly occupied by it. After an hour or two steadily planting seeds in Jing’s mind between the smalltalk and the Big Questions, how she handled the biggest insinuation she made to fertilize that ground seemed a fun walk-home topic to mull over. Namely, that she and Yi Lin understood that their relationship had room for…other...admirers.
Nikiru smiled, fingers catching and tapping on the right indents to unlock the front door, shoulders sagging as she breathed deep on smells of sandalwood and sex.
Of course, there was no room for admiration. Admiration alone would not be worthy of Yi Lin. And there was no understanding on her part either; Yi Lin did as she pleased, and that was all. If something was interesting, she would pursue it. She didn’t need to concern herself with understand those urges, and she never did.
Nikiru was different though. And she was beginning to understand.
