So, collars are for tutors. Forehead marks are for students, so typically what we would understand as Dom/sub dynamics are folded into this kind of guru-ship, more of a submission toward the tutor's ideas and rules in order to learn or be guided by them.

Within this dynamic, there are those who develop very close personal bonds, and end up as Dual-souls, those who collar and mark each other, and advance together as if a single entity.

This kind of merger comes with many potentially strange skills and abilities depending on the pair...perhaps it could best be described as two 2d perspectives being combined to make a 3d object. Them being able to look at the same thing but through two different perspective allows for some supernatural insights.

This here is Jing; you may remember her from a brief appearance in one of the CYOA's (or even further back if you ever knew about Gaang Jr., where this universe stems from). She's typically a cool, suave vamp, nobody's fool and above the fray.

But not when it comes to Yi Lin.

Somehow when it comes to her, Jing doesn't feel she has any defence...and indeed, it's such a complex for her that Yi Lin need to nothing but touch her for all those defences to shed away, and she feels compelled to act out, performing as she believes Yi Lin's will guides her to in elaborate, seemingly nonsensical rituals done under self-trance.

No-one really understands what or why she's doing these things...well, except perhaps Yi Lin. And after they are over, Jing is always terrified of what she's done and of meeting Yi Lin again. But always, always, somehow she finds herself back into her presence- at first guided and goaded by Nikiru...but then as the years go on, by a much more innate, dreamlike impulse as she's marked as Yi Lin's...

The cerebral monitoring system (CMS for short) is a direct connection into a thrall's brain, and keeps track of what neurons fire where, and tries to record the circumstances and reframe them through algorithms to present the data in ways that Controllers, Instructors and others can feasibly use.

The CMS is also used in 'saving' certain fire configurations of neurons and can, from use of certain triggers relayed through the control collar, cause them to fire or activate itself, causing any number of reactions, emotions or or stimuli to occur in the thrall- though poorly logged or unclear reference points to work from for these can cause aberrent or unwanted reactions in the thrall.
