My goodness, update day again! Crazy how time does that.
So with expressions semi-solved, we're moving onto wider assets so I can start making scenes properly again- here's L-D19 in a very familar pose.
However, you may note that there will be more poses! It seems to me it'd be more interesting to break up various attitudes into various stances, as well as a few head-dips...though again that could pose some troubles with asset production.
I'm also still torn on layered characters vs. Live2D for the game at-large, given the former allows a wider variety of expression but the latter is animated and more 'lively', and less variety in expression could lead to more speed. Happily, the method for making Live2d character sprites and layered characters for unity is identical up to a point, so here's what we're going to do.
We're going to make an example scene; adapt the Park scene with Azula, and post it playable in-browser, with the option to switch between Live2d sprites and layered sprites, and I can put a poll up in the description area so I can get feedback on people's preferences.
If people prefer the layered ones, no worries I can repurpose the Live2d for use in other areas (ala L-D19's hypno scene). If Live2d, then again, great, nothing wasted.
I estimate that making this sample will conclude late december, give or take a week either side, and give me all the assets I need either-way.
So yeah, expect a lot of character stuff over the next few weeks! I'm also interested in doing more scene polls, and for $10 peeps I will be consulting you on additional Thrallopedia pages in a short while.
