Witches' Thralls - Chapter 12

“It’s alright, Lyssie,” Talia soothed, her tongue switching to English as she spoke. “You aren’t there, love. Whatever happened before ain’t happening now. It’s just you, me, an’ the moon here.”

Chapter 12 is upon ye at last! It's a short teaser for a long chapter, relatively speaking, but nowhere in here did it feel appropriate to break the scene apart. It's nothing abhorrently long, and my beta reader apparently got so engrossed that she forgot to proofread the thing, so hopefully you'll find that the time flies by for you as well! It's a big chapter for a big event for our sweet little Lyssie.

With this release, I am declaring the first 12 chapters to be Act 1, which is inheriting the former subtitle of the book as a whole. Chapter 13 will be the start of Act 2, where the focus shifts a bit away from Lyselle's wrestling with her traumas and towards what it means to be a Karnan Witch in the first place.

My next planned release for Thralls is the public release of Chapter 6, which should bring with it new footnotes and such for the nerdier readers who enjoy that kind of thing, and possibly just another polish pass as well seeing as that happened a fair bit with the first few. For backer releases, the next couple chapters are drafted, but I may or may not sit and cement the direction and pacing a bit more before we get anywhere significant with them; I am declaring 13 the start of Act 2 for a reason (though if you want cliffhanger pacing, 13 could just as well be the hook to keep you going if I put the break there, so maybe I'll pivot that? I'll think about it), as we start to transition into that whole actual plot thing stories tend to have. Yeah, we have one. It's been there the whole time. You'll see!
