My Little Pony: FiM - EPISODE 3 Reaction

yeah the show gets very dark to the point they kill off characters. not the way they say it but yeah the visuals yell you they ain't coming back except in memories. but they also deal with big issues later in the seasons something that help seal the deal for adult fans. also the characters aren't just 1 dimensional they are rather complex and that gets shown over time in fact you'll be seeing one of those examples soon not gonna say the episode but you'll get it when you watch it.

Yeah the show gets.... not so much 'darker' as 'more complex in it's story telling' Equestria, is always Equestria, and most of the darker things are more in implication then stated. That said, yeah especially early on Season 1 is much more "Kid show" feeling, both because the show runners and writers were still finding their footing and figuring out the world and characters, it took a while for them to solidify their idea for just how old the Mane 6 are meant to be, leading to how mature they act shifting a lot episode to episode. Plus a lot of the early scripts were written under the assumption this would be the 'two 10-12 min tales per episode' rather then one 22 min one, and so they had to stretch out the ideas they'd already come up with to fit the longer run time.

It wasn't really knowing they had a more adult audience, so much as simply having more resources to work with, bigger budgets, and especially the network ditching the E/I tag for the show that put more restrictions on what they could and had to do in each ep. They very much added in easter eggs, and little bits for the bonies, but the general storytelling was just them getting better at writing the show, as well as kind of letting the show 'grow-up' with the target audience who started watching when it first aired.

Started out as more of a kids show but a brilliant kids show that became a show that adults love so much to, it gets more mature and plot driven, dark as well, it’s why it has a big fandom, you’ll definitely enjoy it!

No, you're right. It is a kids show, especially the first season. The creators of the show had no idea that this show would gather such a large adult audience. That said, they adapted quickly and from season 2 onward the series gets far more complex plots and character development. They definitely explore some dark themes later in the series, and eventually there are even Dragonball level battle scenes in the later seasons. Of course, the main story will still revolve around friendship which makes it seem like a childish show, but it is naive to believe that friendship is only for children. I am glad you are liking is so far though!
