I always loved this episode, I thought it subverted the damsel in distress trope really well in a way that made sense for rarity. She is a damsel and she is in distress and by god she’s gonna make that everyone else’s problem!!!!! Weaponized femininity type teas. I agree with Athena above tho, the weirder thing with the ship is the child/adult age gap. I always disliked how the show handled Spike’s crush. Rarity plays into it FARRRR too much imo, and it’s always for shallow reasons like wanting him to do stuff for her. As the show goes on I promise you’ll see tons of other creatures that would be a better fit for Rarity as a partner :)

2023-07-10 21:19:21 +0000 UTCTo be honest the weirder thing abt Rarity x Spike as a concept is the age gap, not them being different species lol. Rarity is an adult and Spike is like 10. Even if they were both going to grow up eventually, I don't think it sends the best message LOL. I much prefer Rarity with someone her own age.
