Android 16 decided to pop off and so did Tien. This is definitely a top tier DBZ Kai episode just for all the cool techniques shown off.

2025-05-22 17:56:55 +0000 UTCFair point! It's mostly sarcasm but at the same time, every one of those situations was "waiting on Goku". He is the main character after all. Raditz - Goku sacrificed himself (maintaining the main character energy) Vegeta/Nappa - Goku did 90% of the work. Frieza? Goku saved the day by going super saiyan and did mention he would have instant transmissional if Trunks didn't show up. Goku was the hope of everyone to beat Android 19/20 and it was a big surprise that Vegeta could go super saiyan and ended up beating them. Great writing there! The whole time while looking for Cell they're all thinking "once Goku wakes up we can surely beat them then!" Having Goku go into the ROSAT after Vegeta and Trunks gives the impression that they will fail and everyone will rely on Goku again. Even if other characters are doing the final blows or having bit parts, the show is and always has been "the goku show" I (Taylor) LOVE all the side characters and their progression throughout the series. It's a testament to Akira's writing that he was able to make people love the side characters more than Goku himself! (Karlii's favorite character being Piccolo, Gohan and Vegeta even being a source of love/hate relationship with him!) Overall I'd say, take what we say about the show being "the goku show" with a grain of salt as it's mostly sarcasm but holds a solid amount of truth within it.

2025-05-22 16:52:11 +0000 UTCI find it kinda weird that you guys are agreeing on it being the goku show, against raditz piccolo landed the final blow, against vegeta it was krillin and gohan who brought him down, during the frieza saga goku only won against frieza and recoom, against freiza and king cold it was trunks who took care of things, Android 20 and 19 lost to vegeta, cell was first beaten by piccolo, so goku almost barely won against anyone so far
