Goku has always been dumb with everything except fighting. He can read read his opponents and react to their attacks great, but anything else he's oblivious. The reason he married Chi chi is because when she asked him to get married when they were kids he agreed to it thinking it was food.

Not everyone can go the extra mile to redo the lip flaps the way Kaiserneko did.

And yes, the "Vegeta, that was not very paragon" thing was 100% a Mass Effect reference. Mass Effect 2 came out either right before or during season 2 of the Abridged. In Mass Effect, good actions were labeled as "Paragon" and evil ones as "Renegade", hence Vegeta saying "Renegade for life" after that line.
