I was starting to lose hope we will not get to present time until this season ends, but thankfully we will learn what is going on in 2009 too. As they dropped that future setting in episode 1 already.

But there's a chance they just skipped a whole lot of past events, since the novels are actually finished, so they do have the end of the story available. I hope to have more, since I was liking the journey through the past.
