Most of this season has been in the years 1850-55. Then episode first suff happened like 15 year earlier about 1840 and modern time is 2009. Hope this help clearing little bit what years we have been in.

And idk why I didn't clock it until the end with the snow, since 'yuki' means 'snow', so that sake is definitely connected to the snowfall. Looked into the other word in the sake's name and if I'm right, it could be translated as 'traces of snow', but idk what you could take out of that, at least not yet.
