To be fair, the way the lizard men are portrayed (with Zaryusu basically falling in love in an instant) is meant to flesh out how they are decidedly different from humans. They have their own body language (tails) and live in a distinctly different society than what you usually see in fantasy anime centered around mostly humans. I get it's somewhat of an intermission arc and it starts off slow, but it has it's cool moments later. Also the rest of S2 is a banger.

2025-08-31 22:52:19 +0000 UTCThe lizardmen arc's main focus is to show how Nazarick is not the good guys (I would not believe if anyone who watched season 1 think they are but...), it's also an arc from the characters within the story POV that's dedicated to building up Cocytus as a independent general/leader.

Zaryusu journeying to get the tribes back together against the evil cloud threat makes for interesting world building. I'm most curious about how he befriended the multi-headed snake he now uses as a mount.

2025-08-30 02:15:26 +0000 UTCDemiurge is producing parchment, not paper. I believe the art in the ED is made by So Bin, the illustrator for the Overlord series. I love this art style and the mood aligns with the theme. With Karli's last comment, I dont think it was only old anime; I think it was general story telling in general. I am thinking of characters like Dawn from Buffy the Vampire Slayer that got added in season 5 just to fill in a plot point. The fans hated that character especially how they tried to flesh her out seemingly to replace Buffy.

2025-08-29 23:37:13 +0000 UTCI'm just gonna be the Person that Voices how agonizing it's going to be for how long it's going to be until we can get this arc over with. However The Commentary definately Helps. Definately glad i missed that Chris Rager Voice acting for Zenberu Gugu, i've always HATED with a raging passion the way Mr. Satan talked with that Derpy dumb Lint in his Speech and knowing how Zenberu personality is so close to Satan doesn't help. On that note however i do still Prefer the Dub for the Lizardman.

It's the first time i've listened to Dub for the lizardman and rather enjoy it more than Sub, But still going to agonize over having to put up and wait a few weeks with this arc until the 'last' Episode of the arc. (Still prefer the Japanese Herald though.)

Oh and I rewatched the Herald's warning in japanese and I still prefer the english version. I'd need to be fluent to truly get anything out of the japanese version.
